Teampbs.org (positive behavior support)-any input on this?
Hello all - I have a family member with kids on the spectrum that keeps sending me info about this and saying "I work for them, they're great, you should check it out". I can't find any reviews for them, and it doesn't look like people have much training, which is a big red flag to me. Plus it's ABA related, so that makes me pause as well. Googling doesn't help much - it's either their stuff or nothing really helpful.
Does anyone know about this organization, and what kind of feedback do you have?
Thanks so much!
I don't have first-hand knowledge but I looked up the site as well as their employment page, and I would be leery b/c they hire independent contractors. The site makes me think they are mainly involved with collecting money for training and referrals through their system.
I am not sure why anyone would want to this unless they had prior knowledge of their particular flavor (assuming their is even something special about it, which I doubt)of ABA and had their hearts set on it. . If I were in the market for ABA I would rather have a recommendation for a particular therapist than a rec for a marketing system for ABA.
If you aren't keen on ABA, then there would seem no point to this.
Was there something specific about it that was recommended or do you suspect you are mainly being marketed to?
Edited to add I looked up the system (not the company) on Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_b ... nt_program
The Wiki article seems to be mainly how it applies to school, but it seems like the system is mainly a collection of ABA techniques. The article lists the main techniques and you can look them over to see if it is of interest. There are probably any number of therapists familiar with them.
