i don't have one as they're expensive, but want one. i use a heavy comforter all year round. in summer, it's too warm. dreamcatchers weighted blankets sells them. you might contact them for more info. they're on facebook. they used to give one away each month. don't know if they still do.

Face it. You're a Neanderthal, and you should be sleeping in a bear, or buffalo hide. You need to live in a robe like that too.

My son has a very heavy king-size blanket in which he likes to wrap himself. It's one of the jersey-knit quilts from Target. It's just a regular blanket, but it weighs a ton and it's very soft. And it was way cheaper than a weighted blanket.

I wish. Layering works, but blankets will slip off during the night, and then I wake up.

There was a post I read like this before. I never gave it much thought, however my favorite blanket is a quilt made out of old jeans. I have had it for over 20 years. It is quite heavy, and very worn. I almost always sleep with it.

I normally sleep under one and it is great, one way to make one would be to sew chains to a normal blanket. You would need to cover the chains in cloth to stop them digging in too much

I bought as plastic ball filled 15 pounder (they say to get one 10% of your weight). It is great and started me back up dreaming which I hadn't done in years, in fact, I bought it almost 2 years ago and have dreamed EVERY night. I enjoy the heck out of dreaming as it takes me to places never been. I also have not had any "aspie blowups" in these 2 years and I seem to be a more happy, tolerant person than I was. I am more 'social', if that makes sense. It's a 100% plus for me. The little boy across the street (he's 6) has Aspergers and they got a blanket before me. He used to freak out every afternoon and yell and cry so loud we could hear him out side. That stopped with their blanket. Plenty of sites thru google.

My son has always liked deep pressure and used to roll himself up in floor rugs, squish under heavy cushions and so on. I had thought about a weighted blanket, so we borrowed one from the Occupational Therapy department to try it out. He liked the weight, but he couldn't stand the texture of the fabric it was made of. Even if I put it inside another cover, it didn't matter, because he knew what it felt like.

So, it's not just the filling that matters - it's also the surface texture.
