Working Parents of Children with Autism
Hello,
I am in the process of working on my master's thesis that is examining work-family conflict for parents of children with autism. To date, there is little known about how parents of children with autism mange to meet their work and family demands, given the unique parenting roles associated with raising a child with autism. As a result, I am trying to advance our knowledge in this area in order to inform organizations on ways to help parents of children with autism more effectively balance work and family.
If you have not yet taken this survey, there is still time to do so. It takes approximately 8-12 minutes to complete. You currently have to be working at least part-time.
I would really appreciate your assistance in helping me complete my thesis!

When did you originally post this? I do not remember if I have done this yet or not, but as a former psych grad student, I am always happy to help with research

I don't have time to get through all the questions, but I definitely changed my job, arrangements with my boss, reduced hours, etc so that I could meet my child's needs. It would have been nice not to have to give up so much income, but you do what you have to do.

I posted this earlier this month on March 3rd I believe. Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it!
I know it affected my Dad's work. He got in trouble with his boss a lot for leaving work to pick me up when the teachers called him to pick me up because I was having a meltdown. This happened around once or twice a week from grades 1-4, because my teachers had no clue how to avoid provoking meltdowns even though my parents told them exactly what I needed. Then I changed schools and the situation improved somewhat, but not completely because I was being bullied by classmates. Ironically, homeschooling was much less disruptive to my Dad's work, because I'd just hang out at the university library and study independently all day.
