Twin Language.
My kids are not "twins" but they are only 21 months apart, nearly 3 and 4 years old.
Over the last week or so, I have noticed that they seem to be making an awful lot of "noise". I just can't "stand" listening to them. It is so grating to my nerves, and today I finally figured it out, they are not "talking" with words. They are just getting into these back and fourth screaming matches, making all sorts of god awful "noises" at the top of their lungs! It is usually in play, sometimes when they are fighting, sometimes it seems that the play and sibling rivelry are moving seemlessly back and fourth.
I think I am going to loose my mind!

My first and second sons were 20 months apart and both extremely noisy! I find it hard to cope with - I can't imagine what it must be like for an aspie mum with sensory issues!
I used to go and 'hide' in the toilet. I'd tell the kids mummy was going to the toilet and I'd sneak in a magazine or book and read.
Sometimes I'd tell my husband I had diarrhoea so I could go hide in the toilet frequently.
Can you buy some earplugs? Or put on relaxing music?
Can you soundproof a room and go in there?
We ended up moving to 2.5 acres (10000 square metres) so they could run around and make as much noise as they wanted outside?
I found with my kids I'd exercise them hard in the morning. We'd go to the park and I'd make them run around for 1.5 hours. Although it's easier for me with the nice weather we have in Queensland, Australia.
If all else fails, invent a volume control for your children.

Our house is a 600 square foot 2 bedroom bungalow. My husband and I have converted the basement to a bedroom for us. There really is not a lot of room to "get away" in the house. I have however bought a pair of cordless headphones for my 12 year old son, and you are right, maybe I need to use them too sometimes!
I don't like sending them downstairs to my room because they trash it. Likewise, if I spend too much time downstairs, they get "busy". Our property is about 30 feet by 60 feet, not exactly a sprawling ranch. I can't let them outside unsupervised, just the way the deck is built and such, they "climb" it.
The weather has been so nasty lately, it is impossible to get out regularly, hopefully that changes.
My mother used to bring her supper to the bathroom and lock herself in to get a break from myself and siblings!
My sons are exactly 2 yrs 3 1/2 months apart and they have very much their own 'language', oldest is autistic, youngest is non-autistic and gifted and they can often be very noisy and all. Just amazing how well they can get along despite everything that is different they have so much alike though the youngest doesn't meet the criteria for a diagnosis with AS, PDD-NOS or Autism.
