As an older adult with ASD I am also a daily road user, I was eager to learn to drive as I was obsessed with cars from an early age, my dad teached me when I was about 12 on a dirt track in a forest and I loved it,
When I finally turned 18 (the legal age for driving in my country) I applied for a theoretical license and passed with colours the actual driving exam was nerve wrecking because it involved me being in a car with a total stranger the examiner but I passed 1st time round,
I have been on the road for 31 years covering an average of about 35.000 miles a year i still love driving,
The challenging bit are other road users as they can be unpredictable and disturbing i prefer to drive at night or early mornings when there is less traffic about,
Driving gives me an enormous sense of freedom and satisfaction,
Question: Do you find it hard to cope with driving and all its challenges?
