If there was a cure to neurotypical, would you take the cure so you would be aspie?

Interesting question!

There are some Aspie traits I could do with - like better focus.

However I like the way I am.

I also like the way my sons with Asperger's are and wouldn't want to cure them.

No. My son doesn't move easily through the world. Nothing has been easy for us. His world seems to be a lot of frustration and very little coping skills. I could not help him if I was just like him.

No one should have to apologize for being him/herself. This includes NTs.

I have explained in other forums here at WP that acceptance of self is a crucial part of self healing, and growing (though in not so many words). I think a person knows when he or she is doing his or her best.

So I will say this here. Sometimes we wonder if things could be different. But we wouldn't know this anyway. What would we have to refer to?

Nope. I like me just fine.

Of course, I like my AS son just fine, too. Self-acceptance is an important part of our family's value system.
