My partners daughter started secondary school in Sept, struggled a bit at first but the school have been great about her dx. She now has an IEP in place which includes her having a learning support assistant for most of her lessons, as a result she's now coping pretty well.
She did a science test one day last week and hit her target mark, then brought the paper home for us to see. The very last question on the paper made me snigger a bit, her answers are in quotes:
a) Complete the word equation below to show this reaction
Magnesium + "oxygen" > "magnesium oxide"
b) In one of the gas jars the magnesium goes out immediately, name the gas in this jar.
"Nitrogen"
c) Explain your answer
" I guessed"
After I stopped laughing we had a bit of a discussion about how being totally honest isn't always what's expected, and maybe it would be better just to leave that answer blank than admit you guessed.
Then it gets better.....
Today she's come home with a piece of homework to do, related to their drama classes this term.
1) What did you enjoy working on this term? "Nothing"
2) What did you improve on this term? "Nothing"
3) What would you like to improve on next term? "Nothing"
Obviously this isn't what's expected, but how do I argue a case for lying? She hates drama, finds it completely pointless, and wouldn't do it given the choice. On one hand I almost find it amusing but I'm not sure that her teacher will see it that way if she hands it in.
