Excuse my ignorance, but what does the "Sea Gull", "Snowy Owl", "Phoenix" etc. stand for under an author's name on a post. I am having an identity crisis cos I used to be a "Butterfly" and now I am a "Tufted Titmouse"! !

they correspond with how many posts you make. :) AFter a certain amount you're a phoenix and then eventually you can make your own title.

Oh, thanks. Is there anywhere on the site where you can read what the list of names are?

I've personally enjoyed seeing my title change as I continue to goof off at work and post too much. I have no idea how the names were selected, but they are rather interesting.

Emu Egg is where you tend to start off. I did see a list somewhere, a long time ago. Once you hit a thousand posts (I think it's a thousand) you can pick your own moniker/logo/whateveryacallit.

Thanks for your feedback everyone. I have hunted around the site and found some info under FAQs. Here is what I found. Apparently they are all flying things and as you put more posts you go become a stronger and more beautiful flying thing. And here I thought that a Titmouse was a mouse and that I was keen to get off the rodent level!

This is pasted from another post:
I started making this list a short time after I joined. I'm not sure if it's completely accurate, but it should be close, within a few posts.

Emu Egg 0-8
Butterfly 9-17
Hummingbird 18-24
Tufted Titmouse 25-49
Yellow-bellied Woodpecker 50-74
Blue Jay 75-99
Raven 100-124
Snowy Owl 125-174
Pileated Woodpecker 175-199
Sea Gull 200-249
Tucan 250-299
Dienonychus 300-399
Velociraptor 400-499
Phoenix 500-999
Custom Title 1000+

But...I wanted to be a bower bird?! Well, I guess that's what I'll be when I hit 1,000 posts. :)
