I have no idea if this is the right place to post this, it's the best spot I could find here.... It's about my little doggie. His name is Bandit..... Get ready this is kinda a gross post, but I hafta know though. I had taught him a long time ago not to eat poop, by wearing him out when I seen him doing it..... And for a long time he didn't do it anymore.
Recently though he's been doing it again, eating poo.... I can smell it on his breath because he keeps trying to jump up and lick my face when I'm asleep in bed. Apparently he's doing this when he nobody is watching, he knows better than to let me see him do it. How do I get him to stop eating his turds?

Well, I heard that dogs do this because they don't have enough of the right
minerals and vitamins that their body needs. Some breeds are more prone
to do this than others, but I am not sure which ones. Sometimes if a dog is
super hungry and gobbles its food it doesn't digest properly and when it comes
the other end it is pretty much in the same state as it was when it went in.

I would feed your dog the best food you can afford, and plenty of it, but only at set
mealtimes so you can control when and how often it poops, then make sure you
have it on a leash when you take it out so you can pull it away from the poop if it starts
to eat it. I watch animal planet and this is where I heard this information. On the It's me
or the dog show. It is a good show to learn about animal behavior. Hope it helps.

My mom's dog did this and the vet said that there was nothing wrong with the dog. He did all sorts of tests and it wasn't related to any nutritional problem. She just was weird. They tried all sorts of stuff (this gets gross)., My dad picked up poop immediately and she would follow the other dogs to . . . . well, it's terrible.
The vet said there was no harm done but I don't know. She was a weird dog.

My dog doesn't do this but his breath still gets gross and I get him dental bones for the evening when he's indoors and in a lovey mood. It helps a lot.

We love our dogs, but they have truly gross manners. About all you can do is keep the yard cleared up and brush the dog's teeth with doggy toothpaste. The dog can learn to like it if you keep telling it how much you love it whilst brushing.

There is a pill you can give them that will make the poo seem nasty to them. My cousin's dog had this problem but they got the pills I think at Wal-Mart and now the dog doesn't eat poo.

You can shovel the poop and throw it into the compost, as soon as he's done going to the bathroom.

My dog also used to have Coprophagia. The vet said it's important to not let it continue, because, according to her, dogs can get addicted and eat their own feces impulsively if not stopped.

Kyra only stopped after I set a few 'traps' for her. I would put a LOT of salt on her poo and let her try to eat a few. She never did eat them again since.

vets also sell the toothpaste,Sam [cat] has a almost impossible to smell brown one called Logic,and it can be used on dogs to.

And the lf aspie lady at the last home am lived in eats her own poo,although she is supposed to do it for attention.
Am have seen horses do it as well.


Am wonder whether dogs can get ill from eating it because of that thing in it that causes harm [toxi something] or is it only cats that have that?
