My boys have had this therapy and it's been very helpful.
The first step was the emotional thermometer.
Then the boys were given a 'toolbox' to help them deal with anger / anxiety etc
Hammer (physical activities)
eg going to the park, kicking/punching the punchbag, jumping on the trampolineetc
Paintbrush (special interest activities)
eg playing lego, yugi-oh, drawing, reading dragon books, going on WrongPlanet
Shovel (support people)
eg parents, adult friends, peers
Saw (thinking)
eg Replacing bad thoughts with good thoughts. Using logic to examine the bad/negative thoughts
Bad tools (ones that we should not use)
eg hitting brothers, calling people names, throwing things, swearing)
I really need to do more work on my website. I've been planning on putting their therapy notes up for months now. I'm thinking I might have to take a break from WrongPlanet for a few weeks so I've got time to work on my website. Or at least be strict and limit my time on WrongPlanet.
