If you get a chance pick up "Born on a Blue Day" a memoir by Daniel Tammet (he's now 29)from the UK, he has Aspergers with a savant ability - In 2004 he memoriized and recited 22,000 digits of pi. His recollections about his childhood and growing up with Aspergers were fascinating. Some of his explanations for his behavior so closely mirror things my son has gone through made it both painful and yet helpful to read.

It is not all doom and gloom- it is a very hope-filled book as Daniel has a good, independent life now.

It's a pretty quick read-only about 225 pages.

I read that a few weeks ago, it is a brilliant book. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to learn about Savant syndrome, or who just wants a good read.

I liked the book. It was fascinating to read a book about a person with savant skills who doesn't have serious global disabilities and can describe what is happening to him from both a medical and personal standpoint. The descriptions of synesthesia were fascinating, too, although I am not a synesthete.

I've read it before, it is a really good book, he was blessed to have such supportive parents who accepted him for who he was. I've also watched the Brainman documentary about him on TV. Very interesting person he is!
