I've posted at length about the dramas at the school.

A new Special Ed teacher started a couple of weeks ago and she is brilliant. My sons LOVE her.

We had the IEP meeting 1 week ago and all items were implemented immediately.

Already the boys have settled down. We've had 2 days in a row without meltdowns or tears. The first time in 2 months.

Thank goodness! I hated seeing my boys so stressed.

Congrats, Smelena! I know that it's such a relief when everything starts to calm down. Good for your boys, that they have someone who's actually helpful for them!

Congratulations, Smelena! Isn't it amazing how much difference one good person at school can make - for the whole family? Enjoy the tranquility! If it won't work against the new hire, after a few weeks, it would be great to send a letter documenting how well the new program is working. You could simultaneously thank the new Sped teacher, have a positive letter in her personnel file, and document useful program interventions for your kids! Nice job!

That's fantastic, isn't it amazing the difference just one trained, caring, competent teacher can make?

BTW, whatever happened with the witch, aka the former SE teacher, the one who should never have been in SE to beginn with, from the sounds of it? Is she getting the AS training she should and the comeuppance she so richly deserves? And since your sons are doing so much better, that should prove to her and the school that it was really her and the school and not your sons.

I remember going the rounds with a couple of bad SE teachers, and bad teachers, period, during the school career of my teenage son. With two years to go, I'm sure there'll be more, too, although he's had some really great ones these past few years.

Wow what great news Smelena!

We have exactly the same, ONE teacher and it makes all the difference. Noone says you have to turn 30 teachers round but if ONE just ONE understands and YOU can get on with them THEN THAT IS THE ANSWER.

Gosh folks find yourself JUST one DOCKING STATION IE TEACHER YOU LIKE and wheyheeeeeeee easy peasy!!

Delighted for you Smelena! Wish there was a bouncy smilie!!

This is wonderful.

Did the previous SE, depart for sunnier climes?

I am sure there are other kids that need to be abused.

The previous Special Ed teacher is still there. Useless one is full-time, brilliant one is 2 days per week.

I've got to set up a meeting with the Principal to finalise my complaint and for them to let me know what's happening.

It's interesting, quite a few of the AS students have been transferred to the 2 day/week (brilliant teacher). I'm curious as to why - did their parents complain??? I'll have to investigate!

Ooooh Smelena, seems as though we have been through similar situations! We too have been at the mercy of THE USLESS ONE! Pink shirted headteacher from hell, if I had the balls I would post his name BUT I am a LAAAAAAAAAAADY!!, so as much as I am tempted I will refrain!

Same happening with our school, all the jellybeans seem to be appearing at the door of our WONDERFUL SENCO here in Cornwall, UK! She is truly amazing, a neurotypical who adores kids on the spectrum. They ALL without exception respect and love her. She likesns herself to a Firelady! Putting fires out all the time ( not literal ones) that jellybeans have been burned in!

Bless her, you only need JUST ONE teacher and trust from child to school to home and you have an instantly happier and more motivated kid.

We have come so far with my kids that they are identifying other kids on the spectrum and helping them as well. Sooooooo two fingers for anyone saying ' WE HAVE NO RESOURCES'

WHAT RUBBISH! The kids themselves are the best resource EVER and they are in plentiful supply and they are FREEEEEE!! ! My kids love helping other kids articulate and explain their feelings, they have been there and done it themselves..............but now they can help others, it does wonders for their self esteem and confidence, it is a WIN WIN situation!

Keep up the good work your side of the planet Smelena and I will keep plodding on here in the UK!! Stay safe!! And hey, if you find a good teacher.............HANG ON TO THEM!! !

Bedtime this side of the planet so nightie night everyone, have a good day/night wherever you are
