how many objects do you think an average 16 month old female toddler should be able to identify?

How many words do you think she should be able to use on a regular basis?

Reason I ask is because aside from "no", Olivia can say are; shoe, puppy, book, ball, tree, kitty, bubba, bow (as in chrismas bow or bow tie), light, blue, mumma, dadda, butt, water, phone, juice, cracker, cookie, chip, toast, remote, foot, nose, head, mouth, eye, ear, daddy's beard, chin. When we say "bop" she'll take her hand, fingers extended and lightly tap herself on her head and say "bop". If we say, "bop daddy on the head" and I as daddy offers her my head, she'll bop me in the head. Get this, we'll put up a finger. She won't respond but when we put up two fingers, she'll say "two". We'll put up three fingers, she'll say "three". We'll put up four fingers and sometimes she'll say "four".

that sounds about right, for a 16 month old.

The counting thing may be a little bit advanced .

My son could recognize makes of cars before he learned the words for most household objects.

Sounds like the very high end of normal to me.

She's doing just fine. Enjoy her, and have fun watching her progress.

I find it a bit counterproductive, long run, to develop expectations based on early development so, instead, just enjoy.
