I took the boy Christmas shopping with me yesterday. Just him and I. We went to several stores and got presents for his mother and sister. We also got him 2 new pair of shoes. No issues about being in public at all...no whining or complaining about getting back home to his video games. It was nice.

That's awesome!! ! I love it when we have successful outings like that.

That's terrific! I'm really happy for you both!

My son doesn't like to shop very much, but as he has gotten older he handles it better and better. He actually invites himself sometimes. I love those times because we have a lot of fun together on those trips. And when he's had enough he will say just that, "Mom, I've had enough. I need to go home soon before I have a meltdown."

I hope this will be the first of many successful shopping trips for you.

PS - I've found my son does really well one on one. It's really good for him to spend time like that, just one on one. He's so at peace then. Everything seems to simplify. I'm really glad that you are building a strong enough relationship for the boy to enjoy one on one time with you. It's really good for both of you.

In typical male fashion we purchased gift certificates to various stores for the girls.
