I've been changing the way I blog recently. Focusing on the positives and just had to share a couple of great moments with my HFA 3yo daughter.

from 10th Jan
Moments #7

I asked Heidi last night to get some of her UHT soy milk from the cupboard, then realised we needed some UHT cow milk as well. So I said to her “Mummy needs 1 blue milk and 2 white milk” and she got them for me. A huge moment because it shows she can count 1 and 2.

- and as someone commented, it is not just counting but a sequence of complicated requests.

Moments #9

Heidi loves to wear odd socks. She was walking around this morning telling me about her pretty matching socks. Occurred to me she matches the patterns.

and from today 11th Jan

We went to a birthday party today at the Altona Miniature Railway - it was amazing, everyone had fun, such a great idea, I might have to steal it for one of the girls birthday parties.

Heidi - she had her hands over her ears most of the time because of the noisy train whistle and the tunnel of DOOM (second pic is entrance to tunnel of DOOM) but that didn’t stop her going on the train 9 times in 2 hours:

So brave - despite the noise she got on the train and enjoyed herself, I'd ask at the station if she wanted to get out, sometimes she did, but mostly she wanted to be on the train. Each time as we approached the tunnel she would pull my hands over her ears and then put her hands over the top - double insulation :D .

I think her choice of sock patterns is pretty cool myself. :D

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know, you meet a wrongplanet member at the party. I will leave it up to her to say who she is.

I had a look at your photo's and I have to ask, were you at science works today (Monday) there was a little girl there that looked just like your little girl and she was covering her ears.

It was the mother of the birthday boy who introduced me to Wrong Planet. :)*

Not at Scienceworks on Monday, we've only ever been once and it was way too noisy for Heidi, the place really echo's. I'm not surprised there was someone else covering their ears while visiting. Melbourne Museum on the other hand is a firm fav. of ours :)

Thanks Beenthere  I was pretty impressed when it clicked how Heidi was matching her socks.

* edited to add - just occurred to me that maybe there was another person there who is a member here. Had to go back and check my pictures to make sure no-one else was in them. I'm always paranoid about posting pictures of other people online without their consent.

Love the thing with the socks. And it's a good example of how our kids brains really are wired differently.

You have no photo's that I could see of the other memebers child. I believe it was the other member who told the birthday boys mum about wrong planet. :D Hopefully she will post to you today, she has been having probs getting in here lately.

I hate science works to. Way to noisy, to many people. Yep the museum is a fav here to.

Hi,

it was me! It was me! I was the other WP member who was at the birthday party!
Leechbabe, you probably don't remember me, we only spoke briefly right at the end as everything was being packed up. My boys were the older one with the giant rubber spider and the younger boy in the Hawaiian shirt who spent most of his time on the train. (Aurea, he chose the shirt, not me lol).

It was nice to meet you anyway and see your girls!

I don't post much on here anymore because I usually can't login - for some reason I can't connect and I just give up. Fluked it today though, so I won't log out. We'll have to get the other mum to post on here too - that'd make three Melbournians!

I can't stand Scienceworks either - my brain starts oozing out of my ears. My AS son and partner absolutley LOVE it though!
