Anyone else with 11 children in one family diagnosed?

Here in the UK we know of a family with 14 children all suspected of being on the Autism Spectrum. Eleven of these children are already diagnosed. They all belong to the same mum and have 2 dads. One of the dads is diagnosed and the other not.

Is there anyone out there that can beat this? I have 5 children and ALL 5 of them are diagnosed as I am too.

Please do let me know. This is a family in the United Kingdom by the way.

I stand corrected, I thought originally it was 7 children BUT no, it is deffo 11!! !

This family are not in the public eye and have never had a story run about them......................! !! !

I just wanted to say that they should make YouTube videos and they should have their own TV show!

Well, first there's the genuine, objective, inborn Aspie traits. Most of the time, they go unnoticed because the person is accepted and finds a place in society.

Then there's the co-morbids: epilepsy, mental retardation, Tourette’s syndrome, tactile defensiveness, bipolar, obsessive-compulsive, attention defecit and possibly environmental toxins or brain damage caused by accident or illness.

Then there's the abuse, individual personality clashes and cultural intolerance. If your own mother or other powerful figure wants you dead, you're going to have a problem.

By circular definition, you're not allowed to have a diagnosis unless it all adds up to something that some clueless NT can perceive as a severe problem. The definition is irrational.

I think that if we could objectively separate the issues, half the world might be Aspies.

But for the moment, diagnosed on the spectrum, how many children do you know in ONE FAMILY? Are 7 the record or is there anyone else out there with other information. The children have to be diagnosed to count.

Which also begs the question......................Seems to me that the majority of the adults diagnosed on the spectrum are diagnosed Asperger? Where are all the adult autistics?? I know a mum that I work with who has been flagged up as adult Asperger but actully in my opinion she is far more autistic, for a start she had a speech delay.............she was 5. So how does that work? Food for thought eh!!

I know there was a family on TV here in the States not that long ago that had six children on the spectrum. The oldest two were Aspies and the youngest four had full-blown autism. I know they have a website, but I can't remember the family's name.

They're here. It's just that, if you give 'em a keyboard, they're not handicapped at all. In this setting, you can't tell the difference.

SECOND EDIT......................Thanks Tahitiii.......................I just have a feeling it is more difficult to get an 'autistic' diagnosis, most adults I speak to that have been diagnosed AS ADULTS at least here in the UK appear to be diagnosed as Aspies!? Maybe it is just me!?

Have never known any big families of all ASD children,can only think of a well known family [the Jackson family]-will probably also know of them as are in the UK? they had a programme on tv about them years ago.

am classed under severely autistic without significant mental retardation [score at the mild end of mr,and have the option of using mld instead of mr],am one of the few who are probably able to use computers and internet-as was young enough for these to be common in school [the special school am went to had macs,juniors had BBCs and acorns].
Of all the other adult auties am know through residential care,not one of them is able to use a computer,the staff actually refuse to let others try a computer saying they will never be able to use one,don't understand how they can know that without first trying to teach?

auties are often expected to be very limited in all ability by oldskool trained staff or unaware ignorants,especially with modern things such as using a computer,so the older auties who hadn't had the chances at school or in the family home before moving into their own homes,don't get a choice-they would be lucky if they were taught to read and write as all of the forty and older year old auties am know can't do either through low expectancies from others and lack of support as children.

Times are changing now,the NAS even teach profoundly autistic adults to use computers,so there is no excuse not to try,instead of just giving up and assuming someones ability.


There are quite a lot of auties on WP-obvious regulars am can think of right now are- Cyberscan,LabPet, Danielismyname,LePetitPrince,Strapples [he's either autie or on the same level,through pddnos?].

The more I hear, the more I want to come over there and pound those people.

Can you sneak it to the other residents? Can you let them practice on the computer when no one is looking? Is it really too hard to learn as an adult?

Even if they can't learn to write as well as you do, I know preschoolers who can't read at all who can still enjoy surfing the net. There's something for everyone, and no reason to deprive someone. It's the Aspie's natural habitat. I would think that any Autistic would benefit in some way.
