i think allot of the stereotype of gamers being unattractive, unfit, lacking charisma, all virgin comes from the fact that there aren’t that many female gamers and those female gamers didn't play the seriously. hopefully the stereotype will die thx to more gamers of the fairer sex…

I used to love Sonic the Hedgehog and Final Fantasy as a kid. I still like classic Sega Megadrive/SNES games, in fact I just completed E.V.O The Search for Eden (emulator...) a few days ago.

I have played WoW in the past but the gender issue in such games annoys me. In general in the Internet I really dislike how people's attitude to you changes when you reveal you're a female. It can totally kill any sensible conversation you're having with someone. A "cool guy" will suddenly be all about asking for pictures and other lame stuff. The most extreme example is this guy who went from talking about black metal to a total creep asking me if I would marry him. 8O

Does anyone else let people just assume you're male, or even lie about it?

I've been fascinated with VG and CG for as long as I can remember, I've always liked dabbling with electronics. I never saw obsession with gaming being so much a guy-thing as an Aspie-thing.

I've played PS and NES moderately in my childhood, more now at an older age, sometimes with emulators. I played chess on our Atari as a lil' kid though :P I've always been obsessed with puzzle- and logic-games, not so much RP'ing even though I was introduced to WoW last year and have been playing - at times even obsessively - since.

Video games are not necessarily for either men or women anybody who wants to play can it's just that the hobby has been protrayed as a guy only hobby when that is further from the truth

That game is awesome. Every time someone brings up Spore, it just reminds me of EVO, and I feel like playing it again.

I'm not a female, but I know exactly what you mean :x I've seen entire chatrooms go crazy just because a female enters...it kind of reminds me of those old cartoons where all the cavemen would be fighting over a woman.

I'm a man, and I don't think its weird.. in my mind it just goes like this.. people are people and people like stuff. I've never understood the logic in gender, racial, national etc stereotypes/roles *shrugs*

Because men tend to be more aggressive in the hunter/gatherer sense of the things. We desire goals and challenges and seek them out! Women, on the other hand, are ruled by emotions. For the most part video games tend to lack emotions. However games like WOW and The Sims brings a sense of ownership that creates a dynamic relationship which seems to work for both sexes.

Not sure about The Sims, but it's definitely true in WoW. I would say probably a good third of my guild consist of couples. In fact, a married couple are the co-leaders. Something like MMO's would be, in my opinion, great for the couple on a budget.

I don't think it's strange at all. In fact, if I have one "must have" criteria in a prospective girlfriend, it's gaming.

I've seen more female players on Left 4 Dead than I have on any other XBL game... it's true. Just thought you'd all like to know.

It's really not that uncommon anymore like a lot of people seem to think it is.

That said I don't think girls will ever be more common than, or equal in amounts to guy gamers -- I think the biggest demographic of gamers will always be the teenage male.

Well, I don't like to wear alot of armor on me, the combat a little slow, what good race and class
to choose from, and I don't like spending 15 dollars a month on it.

Yeh the monthly fees are a bit much considering blizzard make so much money from them but every major patch is ridiculously bugged and they dont even upgrade servers so you sometimes spend 10 mins running at the entrance trying to get in to an instance and there is random lagg.
But if you dont like armour then you can play a mage 'cos they wear only cloth and are overpowered at DPS :P Warlocks are also clothies and they get cool minions - I like the succibi :). As for good races, all alliance fail and probably the best race on the horde are blood elves 'cos they look the best :) trolls, undead and taruen are alright but orcs are just hideous! I agree that combat is a bit slow at low levels when questing but tank or DPS a high level instance and it's not slow :P also PvP makes for fast combat :)

Oh I forgot about skills, I don't want to pay to level up some skills or have too many
