The final boss of Ninja Gaiden II. One would think that the first form of the Arch Fiend is hell-ish enough before the second one that can be cause a one hit kill :P There's a trick to beat him, but it's no use in higher difficulties.

When I was 9 I beat the end boss of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. I can't think of any boss I have fought harder against.

The one in Doom 2 I think.
Cyberdemon was a cakewalk. Spider Mastermind was a cakewalk. However Icon of Sin, that was hard. You had to fire two or three rockets into the exposed brain part, but firing into it and striking the one tiny part that actually kills it, was not as easy as it looked. For one thing, it would start spawning a ton of monsters, and these could and often did get in your way when you tried firing rockets, making you suffer tons of splash damage. Also you could get teleported to the lower end of the stage, where you'd have to make your way back up again fighting through yet more monsters. I haven't been able to beat it, and I don't think I ever could. That boss was just too hard.

Not necessarily a "boss" per se, I dunno.

But the Caesar in Fallout New Vegas was some wildness.

I don't know the proper way to go after him in the flow of the game, but when I played it I stormed in there randomly and peeled down everybody in his complex. It was rough, trying to kill everyone defending him, I had to use some shady tactics to keep my companions respawning (just entering and exiting his tent repeatedly whenever they got bucked down) and even doing that it was a big time war.

I'm sure I went about that the worst conceivable way  but still that's the most rugged fight in video games I can remember.

Actually, the two optional bosses in FF VII gave me the largest gaming challenges I ever defeated. They were truly insane.

I would love to know how you did that! I tried Emerald Weapon once and I was slaughtered.

I cited Ultimecia of Final Fantasy VIII earlier as being the hardest boss I'd ever beaten, but with the allusion to Final Fantasy VII above (Emerald Weapon), I am reminded of the fight with Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts. In which case, I would like to change my answer to Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts in that he was marginally more challenging, and with the fight being in real-time I really had to keep on my toes to dodge his murder frenzy.

The hardest boss in any Kingdom Hearts game is probably the last boss in the Nintendo 3DS version especially on proud difficulty.

That'll be Dream Drop Distance you're referring to, boss. I'm working on that one at the moment so we'll see just how right you are.

Congratz on beating them. These are the hardest I have ever defeated as well. It was not until later years that I found out that there are easy methods of beating them as long as you have the right conditions. The way I beat them was with a lot of x-potions, being level 99 and playing for hours on end.

The last boss in Valkyria Chronicles II, he decimates ANYONE who approaches him...can OHKO your tank (the most OP thing in the game) and recovers energy if you leave him for a turn.

You need to boost a squad member via commands and prey you can get behind him to attack his weak spot.

Albert Wesker from Resident Evil 5. RE 5 was probably the most difficult game I've played. The entire game was intense and the zombies/creatures were actually hard to kill or evade.
