Origin vs Steam vs Uplay
I think we know who will win but post your favorite online game store and why. I like steam for its ease of use but recently started liking origin cause of their "On the House" free games. Uplay basically sucks but I included it in the poll anyway.
The only reason I have Uplay is Farcry, whats your excuse? lol
Steam for me, definitely. I also have Desura though, but that launcher can be a little.... strange. But yeah, mostly Steam. I buy things very frequently on Steam and will also tend to attach non-Steam games to it (like Minecraft).
Origin is... well.... I mean, it's freaking EA, so I dont use it much. It's got the Sims, and it's got Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare (fantastic game), but that's about all I have from them. After the Simcity fiasco, I dont want to buy much more.
UPlay I also dont like, it's pretty annoying, and I have it for one reason, and one reason only: Anno 2070, which... is fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. After the Simcity fiasco I needed SOMETHING that was like a citybuilder to fill the gap, and I got that, and... it's just grand.
I'll be getting Anno 2205 when it hits in November (FINALLY), though.... uuuugh. I see it has one of the dreaded "season passes". I'd really, really like to punch whatever useless jackass it was that came up with the whole season pass idea to begin with. Horrid practice. Ugh.
And oh gods it launches on the 3rd. That's like, 3 freaking days after Afterbirth comes out. HOW CAN I HANDLE THAT MUCH AWESOME IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. I'd thought it was more like the end of the month.
It means more UPlay, but.... if it's anything like the previous game, it'll be A: wonderful, and B: absolutely STUFFED with a deeply stupid amount of content and endless replayability. That's the way to do it, too bad EA cant manage it.
If it manages to be better than 2070, my mind will be totally blown.
But that's enough ranting about that...
Origin now is better than Steam in some ways.
Here is the breakdown
Origin:
Full refund policy
Good costumer service (dedicated department)
Mainly EA and Ubisoft games, though it does have some other games.
Good Mac support
Better Store UI
The only real cons are:
Owned by EA
No support for Steam hardware
Smaller library than Steam
Steam:
Big Library
Better sales
More developer support
Support for Steam hardware
The only real cons:
Mass exodus of major Western 3rd parties (it's ongoing)
The two biggest Western 3rd parties in terms of games don't support it other than token support (EA and Ubisoft).
Lackluster Mac support
Horrendous costumer service, it can take months to have them respond to your issue (Valve only has 300 employees).
Mediocre refund policy
Steam users are notoriously cheap and wait for huge sales before most buy games.
The things they both do:
Scan your files on your hard drive to get data on you
Shove ads in your face
Constantly recommend you stuff you don't want.
Steam is good if you want selection and Steam hardware support, though it has bad Mac support.
Origin is good if you want Western 3rd party games, Those games on Mac, and good customer service.
uPlay is the worst and you should avoid it if possible.

Something.... Weird... Something...
Ditto, I think it was the third game? Was dirt cheap on Humble. But I still need to beat the first two games, Uplay will probably be dead by the time I get to it =) Just like Games for Windows Live. *spits on ground*

If you want a City Builder, I can recommend Cities Skylines.
I currently use Steam ( and GoG when I was using Windows. ) Never had Origin or UPlay and I hope to never need any of them. I like Steam because of the Linux suport and that they actually make more companies make games for Linux
I use steam primarily, mainly due to the library size.
I do have both origin and uPlay, but those were required to play some games (simcity, assassins' creed, anno 2070...), and i launch them from out of steam anyway.
I like the humble store for the discounts and bundles, but since they sell steam keys, i don't include it as a 'distribution platform', you still need steam (mostly, or one of the other two) to play 90% of their games.
