Been playing a lot of Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds recently. It's a lot like Starcraft, but Star Wars ish. Can make some very fun custom games with it.

I've seen a good bit of it, and it's mostly a horror/stealth game, from what I've seen. Exactly one alien (that you cant kill) which stalks you the whole time, with other enemies being other people or whatever. Seems to be mostly sneaking around... very slow-paced.

If you like stealth games, it'll probably be pretty good for you. If you're after tons of action.... that game isnt where you're going to find it. I havent seen the parts of the game near the end though.

A friend of mine is into this sort of game, so I tend to see alot of these. Stealth games, that is.

Harvest Moon 3 GBC at work. I like a lot of the changes, but it seems a bit buggier than the previous games. I also miss being able to run without having to hold a direction down =P And using the d-pad to speed up text is the weirdest idea. Some of the game is a lot easier/convenient now, some of it takes a lot more work, but I think maybe in a good way.

At home, I've been trying to get back into Animal Crossing and/or Tomodachi Life. My favorite Tomodachi married couple just broke up and that's pretty depressing =( A day or two later, the ex-husband asks out a different girl and tells her that he's had his heart set on her since he first saw her (which was probably a year ago). ARGH, SO IT WAS ALL HIS FAULT!! ! Or...my fault for creating the homewrecker Mii??... or my fault for having neglected the game for so long...

I really do blame myself*, how depressing...

*only joking

I began the game earlier today, and you are right it's verrrry slow-paced. After a two hour session of incompetent gaming, I was disappointed that the alien never made an appearance. This is despite me clumsily bumping into objects, shrieking after burning myself and speaking to my mother whilst playing, too - apparently the game detects sounds that are being made in reality and these can alert the alien to your character's whereabouts.

Are there any good action games on the PS4 that are not set in the future or excessively violent?

Yeah, games like that are always very, very slow-moving. Cant stand them myself. Particularly when they then stack a pile of cutscenes on top of it. If I remember correctly though that the alien doesnt appear at all until a particular cutscene has passed (of course). It's one of THOSE games, where it takes bloody forever to actually get to the gameplay. Because ZOMG STORY. The pacing never really increases though even after that.

As for action games.... hm, no idea. Most of them these days seem to be either FPS games, or things like God of War, or maybe "open world" games (which also tend to have major pacing issues). Or many, many, many clones of those things. I dont think I can recall even a single action game on there that ISNT one of those three things. Needless to say, they are usually fairly violent. I'm more familiar with indie games than anything though (not a big fan of most mainstream games), so I'm probably missing a bunch.

I'm trying to expands my interests - as presently all I do is mindlessly surf the web, watch South Park and read the occasional novel - thus video games seem like a viable option. I believe they are quite popular amongst those on the spectrum, too.

What consoles do you guys & gals primarily use? And, if I may ask, what games are of most interest to you?

I have a PS4 and my niece has a DS and Wii, but I seldom play on any of the three. In fact, I probably, on average, spend more time on my Ninendo 64 than any of the newer consoles.

Lately, I have been playing Saints Row, GTA 5, Borderlands, and Sherlock Holmes on PS3. I also play Sims on PC!

In my case, the PC is my central device; the selection of games is damn near infinite when compared to the consoles (since ANYBODY can make a game, not requiring a giant publisher and manufacturer, or anything like that). Seriously, it's an extremely dramatic difference. Tons of my favorites are on there, such as Nuclear Throne (which is bloody amazing). Works out well also due to the extreme frequency with which I tend to buy new games. I've hundreds of games just on Steam alone, wheras on the consoles I have... only in the single digits for any of them, unless you cout the VC stuff on the Wii U. The only problem: WINDOWS. That freakish demon-spawn of an OS. It's a damn big (as in, REALLY big) downside, really, and I seem to spend a whole lot of time yelling at it, but I'm willing to put up with it. Barely. The consoles dont have a problem like that. At all.

Then there's the Wii U, which has turned out to be quite grand. I'm so glad I bought this. Nintendo is really putting out some awesome stuff recently. The newest Smash, Super Mario Maker (TOTALLY ADDICTED TO THIS), Splatoon, Mario Kart 8.... these games, I think, arent just good, they're freaking fantastic. And have soooooooo much replay value. And Binding of Isaac: Rebirth also recently appeared on that console, eliminating my need to deal with Windows in order to play it, so that also helps.

3DS has been decent too, though I havent found much that interests me on it. I use it mostly for the most recent set of Pokemon games. Which are also very good.

PS4 I have entirely for LittleBigPlanet 3, one of my favorites. It's literally the entire reason I bought the thing. It really doesnt do much else other than sit there. For the most part, the thing's selection just bores me. No interest.

And screw the XBone. Dont want, dont need.

Also I use my iPad for gaming ALOT. I aint talking "casual" games here, either... I get bored of that sort. Bullet-hell shmups tend to be a favorite genre of mine, and it turned out that they work wonderfully on there. I"ve got some damn silly number of games on the thing overall of a variety of genres.

I used to have a Wii, but I declared it to be the worst console I've ever encountered, so I got rid of it. Same with the PS2... that thing had good games, but I went through TEN of the little nightmares. Crappy, shoddy piece of junk. Got rid of it, sold every game I had (and I had alot), and never looked back. Got a 360 too, but it's a Japanese import used exclusively for imported games (all of which are shmups). And finally a PS3 that gets used so rarely (including before I got the PS4) that I have no idea where it is. Bloody useless thing, that.

Also have tons of retro consoles. Tons. I think I love these more than anything else, but they're not really "relevant" these days, are they...

....and OH GOOD. CLOUDFLARE is being a screwup again and making this site even screwier than usual. I. Hate. It. So. Freaking. Much. I'd LOVE to see them go down in flames. I really would. Tired of it corrupting otherwise useful sites with it's damn stupidity.

So, I was hoping to play some Splatoon today, but I needed to deal with something before daring to try that. There's a particular problem going around (thanks to hackers, as usual) that, if encountered, can fry your save file. So, the recommended solution I'd heard was simply to back it up, of course.

I go to buy an SD card for the thing. What with it having the slot for it and all.

And then get it home, get the godforsaken card's package opened, and find out.... it has the SLOT, but the thing cant USE it. There arent even options in it's menus, and I had to hear it from a seperate source to confirm this. So.... it's got a slot that, as far as I can tell, is utterly worthless.

HOW someone can screw up something that simplistic is.... absolutely baffling. Granted, with Nintendo of all groups, I can believe it, but still.... this is absurd even for them.

I dont even want to know the reasoning behind it at this point. I really dont. It's just.... so goddamn stupid. To use the card, I'd have to go buy a USB SD card adaptor gizmo. Despite the obvious slot. Which... just.... it.... I DONT EVEN.

Ugh. Maybe it's time to spend some quality time with the PC instead for awhile, lest I destroy something.

Same here. Newest consoles I have are Wii U, 3DS, and Dreamcast =) I also have an XBox (not 360), it has a handful of games I like. One of these days I wouldn't mind getting a PS2, I have quite a few games for it. Mostly I play the old stuff, though.

I have a PC too, there are a few newer games I play, but most of them are indies.

JakeASD wrote:

Just about anything, except there aren't a lot of games that interest me in the genres of racing, sports, RTS, MMO, puzzle, simulation, etc. (there are some really awesome exceptions out there, though).

I used to really like RPGs, but I don't have a lot of time and patience for them anymore =( Especially the ones with voice acting and cutscenes.

Still really like action/adventure games, or whatever you call them...games that are like Legend of Zelda.

I used to think I really liked FPS games, but then I realized that I hate probably 90% of them =) So I don't know if that counts.

I can get addicted to a really good Roguelike (especially Rogue itself), but I think a lot of it might be the programmer side of me, because most of the time I'm playing, I'm studying how the gameplay is actually designed instead of paying attention to what I'm doing. It's fascinating how a few well-designed algorithms can generate almost every aspect of the game.

My main consoles actually are my Wii U and my PS4.
On the PS4 I play mainly action/RPGs, so if you want you can add me on PSN (Cayia5) and I might have some suggestions for you.

Yes, the best thing to do is back up your save. But if you do encounter the hacker there are some things that you might try to do to not get your save destroyed, just take a look here:

Been playing quite a bit of Etrian Mystery Dungeon on the 3DS, and have found it surprisingly fun, it really does seem to take the elements that are in Etrian Odyssey and have it with game play that is Mystery dungeon like the Pokémon Mystery dungeon. Well really I have only played some of the story part of Etrian Odyssey Untold, so even the total freedom to create your team is a bit new for me. I have so far been using the standard attack based tank (landsknecht), with a healer (medic), mage (runemaster) and shooter (gunner), which is apparently the recommended beginner party, but with so many other classes it is tempting to switch some members out. Most of my back up members that I have not had the chance to really use yet deal with buffs, with a Dancer (Support fighter), Hexer (Debuffer), Sovereign (Supporter), and I have a Defender (defence based tank). My current team has worked so well that I am worried about switching out, but I know that others are viable, so far the extra team I am not using is just getting auto-levelled so if I lose my team in a dungeon then I can send in the other to rescue them to avoid losing items and money.

It is a really good dungeon crawler, which comes from a weird fusion of the two game types it comes from. Mystery Dungeon's kind of random layout which is freedom of team movement in the dungeon, and Etrian Odyssey's careful planning. The first boss I got my butt totally kicked, levelled up with some side quests and managed to do very well, and when I reached the second boss had almost the same thing where it became a case of using tactics to get out of the battle. When I got back to the second boss he still was really difficult, but I realised that these battles are meant to be hard, it really is EO game with bosses in how you need to make everyone's attacks fit into one strategy, mixed now with MD's positioning. Makes me really want to try out more of these difficult dungeon crawlers.
