I liked the second one because it scared the crap out of me

I'm not sure about Other M...I guess I'll probably play it when it comes out. The storyline looks really cool, but the gameplay? I hate using Samus in the Smash Bros. games, and I can't imagine an entire game of it would be any more Metroid-ish...but like I said, we'll see.

Other M is 3D...
Have you played Ninja Gaiden Black? Cross it with Metroid. (But tone the difficulty down.)

And don't worry about this not feeling like a Metroid game. Other M is being handled by the same team that made Fusion. (Along with Team Ninja...) But Iwata insists that it will feel like a first-party product.

I realize it's 3D.

I'm just saying, I can't imagine Metroid being a beat-em-up and still feeling like a Metroid game. Heck, in the trailer, she puts an alien in a headlock, gives it a DDT, and then shoots it through the head...what the heck?

Maybe if they put enough secrets in it, I'll be able to overlook the weirdness.

actually I have to admit that the things I see in Other M is always exactly how i've imagined Samus fighting in close range. Why not use the grapple beam to hook an enemy and slam them into multiple walls before dropping them on the ground and blowing their brains out? Samus is meant to be powerful and agile, tough enough to take down Kraid but fast and agile enough to dodge lasers and jump off walls. Also putting a raptor in a headlock and shooting it is lulz.

Just bought Metroid Prime Trilogy today, and am enjoying it, although the achievements/unlockables system is very unintuitive...

Yeah, I really hated having to scan everything in those games...but I'm so anal that I can't stop myself =(

At least in the third game, they made it a lot more obvious to what you have and haven't scanned.

And in the second game. Especially in the second game, actually.

I don't mind scanning things. I like learning the info behind everything.

Yeah, I actually read all of that stuff. The amount of work put into the atmosphere was impressive.
It must have been a pain to localize it for Japanese release.

Though it would have been nice if they had explained how the scan visor worked, considering that it had the ability to generate random facts just by looking at things.

It is probably a combination of biological/physical scanner and computer interface.
