Protip: If you decide to play Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines, do not play through the mission in the abandoned hotel when it's late at night and you're all alone. Especially if you like to turn off the lights so you can see the screen better.

The zombies in the graveyard are hard, and the Malkavian's mansion is creepy as frak (especially if you listen to all the tapes), but nothing in the game is quite as scary as what happens in that hotel...

Good advice! Never enter an abandoned hotel. ;)

You should definitely play EarthBound for the Super Nintendo. It's a fun and quirky RP that reminds me a lot of the Pokemon series (even though EB came out a few years before that). It also had good music and interesting characters. However, the game is very expensive and copies go for at least a couple hundred dollars on ebay.

Like many have said, Fallout 3, but only if you actually liked Oblivion...

That being said, Fallout 3 plays more FPS then RPG. When I think of RPG, I think magic and swords. Or, giant keys and disney characters.

What? Giant keys? Disney characters? what game could possibly be so epic? None other then Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days. While you can't play as a girl in any of those, I consider them the best RPGs on the planet. I'd give them a try no matter what.

If you like old games and are a girl, I suggest Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: Another Story (aka "Sailor Moon RPG") for SNES. It was only released in Japan, but you can find it online to download. It's really just a basic RPG, but it's fun and extremely addictive.

Ahhhh! I play that! All the talk of EarthBound in the Super Smash Bros. games had me hyping the game, then when I found the ROM on a website I was so stoked! I played it... and it was... kinda random. Funny, but random. I like the battles and everything (the battle music for the Coil Snake sounds like a hippy's drug-induced euphoria or something) but I'm stuck on that gang leader in Onett. >=[

I disagree with that statement. I hated Oblivion, but loved Fallout 3. Oblivion was a game with broken mechanics.

Get the Fallout 1, 2, & 3 bundle!

You can play as a female in all those games!

Fallout is worth playing at least once, Fallout 2 is worth playing many, many times (my all time favorite RPG), and Fallout 3 is very, very, good, PLUS the game is huge!! ! With all the DLC for Fallout 3, (I think 4 or 5 expansions by now) you'll have games to play for years! :D

If you'd like some advice, I'd say level up your character to at least LV. 10. Then the battle should be smooth sailing from there.

yeah, in fact, Bioware's work is almost uniformly of the highest quality when it comes to RPGs
Baldur's Gate 2 (can't speak for 1, haven't played it): my first love in the RPG genre, the attraction's still strong nearly 9 years later as I play it through again
KotOR: yet another fantastic work, this time with lightsabers and psychopathic droids
Jade Empire: as above, but with martial arts, yet strangely lacking a middle with regards to story...
Mass Effect: another good one, yeah, the Mako does stretch believability with it's mountain climbing, currently obsessing about the sequel (another two months....grr)

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are also both fantastic, Betheseda does open worlds very, very well

Thanks for the tip (Keith, was it?)!
Now I feel motivated to have a another crack at it! =D

On what planet is Dragon Age anything like Oblivion? The only similarity I can think of is that they're both medieval fantasy. Like 95% of all other RPGs.
