I tried it for a while, but had played Magic: TG for several years prior . . . Magic is still far better (as far as comparisons go). YGH is just too one-sided . . . powerful cards cant really be stopped, and there seems to be a strong favoritism towards them. In magic, the most common card can result in outright mayhem for anyone (oooh, someone plays that uber-powerful card . . . awww, a counterspell with its name on it  ). YGH doesnt have much in the way of those luxuries (least as far as i can tell).

Really? How long has it been since you played YuGiOh? Simply having a stronger monster means nothing anymore. Also, about whatyou said about magic, I love the idea behind magic, and even prefer the way it is supposed to work over YuGiOh, because there seems to be a much stronger emphasis on creation as apposed to destroying everything, but to me it just kinda feels a little sloppy. I think Magic is more fun to play, but YuGiOh seems a lot more organized. This is just my opinion though.

Heh. Even against the bizarre AI of the GBA games, playing a monster card with high ATK was often more dangerous than not doing anything at all. They are easier to use as a defensive wall or intimidation than as weapons. But there are cards with "powerful" effects that are hard to counter, including a number of situational instant-wins. (And I realise that "situational" is a stupid and vague word.)

The Bandai rules you mean?

yeh, I remember those ones clearly as well as the new ones

speaking of new rules, I loled at all the people who used lightsworns whining bout the new limited/semilimited/banned list. My deck is almost never touched by the banned list and is considered an anti-meta deck

From what little I know about them, Lightsworns seem totally broken and should be banned. Pity that many people in my hometown use them from what I know. I don't play locally, but I have lurked forums and have heard that Lightsworns are the most used archetype around here.

Well, Lightsworns are a deck-milling type...You just have to deck em out faster than they can or use a macro deck.

I know. You do that in order to summon Judgement Dragon. I've done before in a duel puzzle in WC 2010. Duel puzzles are special duels in which using a select number of cards, you have to end the game in one turn.

yarp, i played that too. <.< Lightsworns just rip everything to pieces once you get the basic cards... Even the end boss. <.< And they hardly need speed spells support. =.= honestly though, Judgement dragon IS deadly... Always good to have a Solemn Judgement or Bottomless trap hole or whatever destructive spell you might want in order to prevent the other person from using that dratted effect.

Yeah, although the latest ban list nerfed the lightsworns slightly. I dont have problems with them anyways, since I run 3x macro cosmos, 3x dimensional fissure 3x banisher of the radiance. after that is just spam out D.D. survivor and Caius/Raiza/Mobius/Thestalos. I also have a necroface in there for a huge beatstick if i so need it, and considering that lightsworns = milling, if im against them, necroface hits like a f*****g truck.

Now for a friends fun deck, that got in 4th at the regionals, black salvo -> Chimeratech overdragon deck.

Organized? Howso? Magic has been around since the mid-90s . . . YGO (sorry about the YGH mistype) is only 10 years old. The last time i played was during the DX offshoot series. Sloppy, to me, is when a game looks good on a show, but executes poorly in reality. For instance, i dont care for the, "You can only play <card name> if you have a <different card name> in play." Not to mention the whole max card copy of 3 per deck (4 just works better . . . at least to me). However, i think YGO would have made a better online game/MMO (the concept of fusion cards is interesting, but needing the cards in hand in a separate deck is an annoyance). Its the culmination of stuff like that which make YGO good to look at, but plays poorly. Besides, if i want to fight someone, i dont want to be limited to 5 creatures . . . i'll take a damn army   .

When did this thread get made? I just went to a card shop in Gosford on Saturday to play Yu-Gi-Oh for the first time in three bloomin' years! I'm amazed that my retro-'07 deck managed to hold up against all these sweet new cards like the Synchros and all the toads and frogs! I'll definitely go again this Saturday. :)

It was made by me a few weeks ago. But many people who've posted haven't played yugioh in some time, so they missed a lot of things in regards to game mechanics and the whole synchro thing.

It's become very popular in my school the last few months but I only play occasionally when I have nothing better to do.

Really? At my school, only three people play it and they're really nerdy. I'm very shy so I've never really attempted to play with them, but I've let them know that I play.

I play mostly with myself. I have three different decks. My friends at one point had created a weird Yugioh vs FInal Fantasy game where duelists ply against someone playing a final fantasy character with their max stats, but it didn't last long(though it was fun)
