Pretty much that.^ I have never, in my 4 years of playing, heard anyone reffer to hunters as a difficult class to play.

Not that I'd know, after playing a warlock I've grown to dislike pet classes so I've never played a hunter.

You mean race, right?

My main is an Undead Warlock. I play a few others (Blood Elf Pally being my second) but I highly prefer to be the Undead whenever possible. I think I might start a goblin with my roommate though when they come out...

That's actually the problem, the class is so easy to use, so many flub it up (why else do you think the word "Huntard," exists). Sure, they have a pet, sure they are long range with chain armor, and sure they have some decent melee when in trouble . . . but even with all of these perks, a LOT of people mess it up/abuse it. Hell, I messed up with it at least once because I didnt pay attention to the class needs (as far as stats).

They just changed the talents for numerous classes yesterday. Of course with a change this large Cataclysm PTR was dead most of the day.

Here's what talents look like for my level 37 Worgen Druid
Image

Here's what I know about the new talent system:

  • Instead of showing the talent trees there is now a proceeding screen with talent summaries.
  • Mastery stats on gear and weapons will be dynamic based on your class and talent specialization. Unfortunately mastery gear won't be available until level 80. :(
  • A lot of useless talents are gone. I guess Blizzard wants to streamline talents.
  • You are given a total of 41 talent points to spend at level 85.
  • Each talent specialization has been reduced to 31 points. You are required to spend 31 in your primary talent specialization before you can spend in any other specialization. This doesn't sound too bad. I did this already while specializing. I would generally spend points in my primary specialization before putting points into secondary specs.
  • You get 1 point every 2 levels.

This change is huge. Will existing players like it or hate it? It's really hard to tell what the future ramifications will be. From what I'm gather the beta community is giving Blizzard the opportunity to win them over, while they work on this change.

Edit: Wow! These new talents are crazy! I'm doing more damage with this spec than I was previously! :D

Because this topic is about classes. I thought it was relevant. Sorry if it wasn't.

tbh i didn't like raiding much in wotlk. I've played since 2004.
If they dont provide changes to the paid character transfer service, I wont be hanging around after leveling my toons gets boring.
Low realm population is good for leveling, but for end-game. You have a very small player pool and most are just terrible and ignorant.
*waits for beta invite*

WoW is my big passion at the moment, heh.

My dual mains are a Marksman Hunter and a Resto Shaman (both 80), and I've also got a level 80 Mage, level 80 Death Knight, and several others 40+. Right now I'm leveling a Disc Priest and a 2nd Death Knight, as my main DK has two tank specs but I also really enjoy dual-wield Frost DPS.

I'm mostly a PvE raider. On my Hunter, I'm 12/12 in ICC10 and have a few Heroic modes, and I'm 11/12 in ICC25 normal and 8/12 in ICC25 Heroic. I'm almost as far on my Shaman, and I'm at least through Plague wing on both my DK and Mage.

Hunter is easy to play, but actually rather difficult to truly master. It's maybe not as difficult as a Feral kitty Druid, but you can't just faceroll to 12k DPS even as Marks. The shot rotation/priority isn't particularly complicated, but it's very rigid and requires very precise timing in order to maximise your DPS output. We're also very gear dependent at high levels, and knowledge of proper gemming and enchanting is something we actually have to go out and research, as slight changes in those (especially gems) can result in significant impacts on our DPS performance.

<high-5s> Thanks for putting to words what I couldn't . . . 12k DPS, the most I've ever gotten as marks was 4100 (i'm hoping 12k is an exaggeration . . . ).

Beast Master focus: Agility and Attack Power
Marksman focus: Agility and Intellect (+hit for raiding)
Survival Focus: Agility and Crit (+hit for raiding)

I'd link my hunter, but when I last used him, he wasn't using his epic gear (was trying to cut cost of repairs while doing dailies).

Raid rotation (marksman): Serpent Sting, Chimeric Sting, Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Chimeric Sting, rinse/lather/repeat
Raid Rotation (survival): Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, Explosive Shot, Steady, Steady, Steady (however, it would be Steady, Explosive, Steady, Explosive if you get the proc), then Black Arrow, rinse/lather/repeat.
Using burst trinkets that give +crit/+AP are a big necessity with this setup.

Of the two, survival makes for better burst damage, but lacks longevity due to mana requirements. Marksman has a longer chain of shots to use, but is far more mana efficient (depending on spec). I honestly wouldn't recommend Beast for raids since, on many bosses, your pet will most assuredly die.

I miss my hunter :( I wish I could of got 12/12 icc, can't do it when you have to carry people atleast when icc buff was low. Probably is easier now.
