I love the Sonic series! However the quality of the games have been sadly going downhill... I honestly think the series began to die after SA2... I mean Heroes was good but other than that the majority of the games after SA2 have been terrible (Don't even get me started on Sonic 06...) However I am looking forward to Colors as I hope that will be a step up for the franchise.
Don't worry I won't get you started on Sonic 06, because I know just how bad that game was. ( I played and finished it. ) 8O I never played Heroes, but Sonic Unleashed wasn't that bad, in fact it was fun! Personally I'm looking forward to Sonic 4 episode 1.

I loved the daytime levels of Sonic Unleashed and if those were the full game (only with more of them) It might have been one of my favorite games of all time. However the Nighttime levels killed the game for me. And you haver played Heroes? That was a really good game actually, you should try it.
I didn't mind the nighttime levels at all, the problem at first was getting over the " were-hog effect. " * I got over that really quick when I saw the scene right before the 1st final boss fight in Sonic 06.* :?

The original sonic game on the mega drive is my favorite game ever. I liked all the meag drive ones and also the gameboy advance games but not the others really as I have a hard time with 3D games and I don't like the newer designed sonic as much

I personally like Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Megamix, and the Genesis games. Plus, I'm pumped for Sonic 4.

Wanna try and beat my records?

So um, anyone remember the last time SEGA actually released a non-spinoff Sonic game that wasn't critically panned? Last time I checked Sonic Adventure was the only 3D Sonic game that was enjoyable to play. Everything after that were rushed, unpolished, messes of games that introduced pointless stupid characters. Sonic 4 would have been a good idea, except I want to be able to play a whole game, not little episodes of it that cost x amount of money each.

I wish SEGA would retire the Sonic franchise in general, but as long as their preteen target audience and rabid fanboys lap it up, they'll continue to churn out progressively worse Sonic material to "satisfy" the demand.

(Used to play Sonic for years, graduated to Nintendo)

I do agree with you up to a point about Sonic games being rushed, and they're alot of pointless characters that were shorhorned in;however, to say that the only good 3D Sonic game was SA1 is a bit much, after all there was it's sequel SA2. Not to metion Sonic Unleashed, despite what what so called " reviews " it had. Hopefully ,and I say this with caution ,Sonic 4 will continue this trend.

ever since sonic heroes, i new sonic was dead, although if Sega stays to the 2d platform, cut out sonics friends other than knuckles and tails. it will most likely be a fun game.

My thoughts excatly, if they stop trying to shornhorn every one into a game, and make the main focus about Sonic. ex. Sonic Unleashed It's more likely to be a better game.

The new old school styled Sonic game looks good but i'm really let down that they don't have the full speed red wheel looking feet. I realize it's nitpicking but it really does make a different in the sense of perceived speed. Same with how in the old games the screen would move with Sonic more toward the forward side of the screen if he was going fast enough on a long enough run. It's small things but they all add important parts to the flavor...kinda like how that pinch of garlic can make all the difference when cooking.

We can see the red wheeling feet at brief moments in this video. (Like at about 3:20)

For Sonic being in the forward side of the screen when running, I am more under the impression that it was from the Genesis limitation. (A.K.A Sonic was running too fast for the console to be able to follow.)

I like the old Sonic games (Like the ones with Chao in them.), but after Sonic Riders... That game was just annoying! I'm probably never going to buy another new Sonic game again.

My favorite Sonic game is DX because it was just so fun. Except for Big's levels.

Chaos weren't introduced until the 3D sonic games... Which are considered the new ones...

Er what? That's not what I meant.

And Sonic 3D wasn't even a 3d game... It was a 2D game with an isometric view.

I don't consider them new. They came out around 2003 or something. I call that old. And Chao were in Sonic Advance which was a 2D game.

Just because a game is 2d doesn't make it old... I consider the old 90's games that I grew up with old as that is where sonic got it's start.
