^ this.

This is what has happened to every Nintendo non-handheld system since the 64, and maybe the SNES (I don't know enough about it to make a judgment call). The 64 was the last console that held cartridges, and to make one cart cost the company $30. The GameCube had those weird baby discs that were a pain in the butt to make, as are the Wii discs, which are basically normal-size versions of the GC discs. You can't use a normal DVD burner to make them, driving up cost to developers. Good for preventing file-sharing, not so good for keeping costs down and productivity up. Combine the weird discs with the new motion controls, and the Wii is definitely the hardest system ever to make games for. (I know the 360 & PS3 both have motion controls now, but you can make a game without them, so they don't really count).

Very true. The real problem I have with Nintendo now a days is that they spend too much time trying to be independent with their technology when what they should be caring about is making good games. Their gadgets and do-hickeys are nice ideas at first, but they just end up turning away good game developers that don't want to be bothered putting together games on such a hard system to program.

I honestly believe that a system itself just needs to be playable because the games will speak for themselves. I bought my wii to play super smash bros brawl, mario kart and the stuff on the virtual console. I never play Wii Sports. The only game I have for it that I actually use the motion control is Lego Batman because you have to use it there. So I've never really cared about the technology. Some people do though.

I'm not a huge fan of motion controls, but I like Wii Sports sometimes and I absolutely love its backwards compatibility with the GC games. I've wanted a GC since I first played one at a friend's house and now that my little brother bought a Wii, I have one!

The devs aren't the ones who "burn" the games, though...

The reason Nintendo has poor third party support is because devs don't take the time to make their ports actually look good on the older technology, and don't want to risk releasing an inferior looking port (because let's face it, these days graphics are a more important marketing device than anything else), and definitely do not want to take risks with a brand new IP or a spinoff game. EA, Sega, and Rock Star have all tried to reach "hardcore gamers" by releasing M-rated games for Nintendo's platforms, and none of them saw the returns they were expecting.

But then, Nintendo's an entirely different monster than Sony and Microsoft, since those two rely 100% on third parties, and Nintendo has tons of excellent 1st and 2nd party titles.

So I guess Sonic Colors worked out better than the last few Sonic titles. Might have to look into it.

Oh, almost forgot. If you have Wii Shop connectivity, you can download the first episode of Sonic 4!

Anyway, back on topic. Epic Mickey's pretty good from what I've played of it. It's especially innovative how paint and thinner could be made into a morality system.

The original concept art for this game was just f*****g creepy. Hell, one of the pictures showed a zombie Goofy wearing Donald Duck's bill as a shoe. Too bad Disney had to water it down.

I thought overall that the game was pretty good. The concept was innovative, the plot line was great, and the graphics were top notch (for the Wii anyway). But...

--The camera stunk. And when I mean stunk, I mean it was 'Worse than Super Mario 64' bad. That stupid camera will cause unnecessary deaths.

--The controls for shooting enemies with paint wasn't very accurate. It worked all right when you were just shooting walls, but trying to beat more than three enemies at once will cause problems when the paint attack isn't killing them.

--Essentially Mickey is a task doer. He always has some task to do, and some of them require backtracking. I didn't really mind this, but that's because I've completed the Paper Mario trifecta of backtracking* and know the backtracking in this game isn't that bad.

I think it's a good game and worth a play, but I'd rent it or wait for the price to go down.

*In case you're curious, the Paper Mario 64 backtrack is the chain letter, the Thousand Year Door backtrack is General White, and the Super Paper Mario backtrack is the Merlee Crystal Ball Hunt. All three are very brutal backtracks compared to Mickey's, hence the Paper Mario trifecta of backtracking.

I don't have a Wii, but this is one game I'd like to play.

When I do, I hope I'll like it, despite some reviews saying it was a let down.

That game is truly epic.

Seriously, it's a great platformer, even if you don't like cartoons. If you do like old Disney cartoons, it will be even better. Everything in that game is a reference to Disney's history. The world in which the game takes place is a twisted version of Walt Disney World populated by extras from old Mickey mouse and Oswald, the Lucky rabbit cartoons. Not to mention the extra creepy animatronic versions of Mickey's friends:

I tried it. I really wanted to like it... Played for a couple hours, maybe 3 total.

I never got into it though. It reminded me of a not-as-fun supermario sunshine but with more integral platforming elements and worse camera controls.

Just my opinion though. Maybe it was because I played it around Christmas time and I was just anxious to get to Fable 3. Maybe I should give the game another chance...
