Actually, I hated SatAM too. The direct-to-video Sonic movie was the only successful cartoon adaptation of classic sonic I think.

You mean OVA? I LOVE that. I could do without that princess girl but at she isn't nearly half as annoying as most of the human characters in the Sonic universe.

What really frustrates me about SatAM is the fact that these animals are clearly capable of using computers and technology, if they REALLY wanted to get rid of Robotnick/Eggman, they could have finished him off a long time ago. Are Sonic and everyone else really left wing anti gun biggots? And what is it with people giving Sally Z cup size breasts in fan art? Animals don't get them until they've become pregnant and even when they do, they don't get them in the same shape and place as humans.

I loved Sonic as a kid. I was introduced to it when I was seven with the video game. Then I remember watching it on TV when I was eight and nine. I also watched Sonic X and played the games and I think the newer games are sucking. I like the classic ones and I thought Sonic 4 was disappointing because I felt they took the obstacles from the first three Sonic games and also redid the levels from them too so it felt like a rip off. It was like they couldn't even come up with their originals ideas so they had to take them from the first three ones and made a remix out of it and use the same bosses and the same special stage from the first one. Thank god for youtube or I would have thrown out 1500 points.

I really liked the Sonic games as a kid. I really got into the series when Sonic 2 came out, up until Sonic Adventure. I don't really care about Sonic; I always liked Tails. Always played as Tails in all the Sonic games since 2. Tails all the way!

I don't know and I still cannot figure it out. I never liked Sonic as a kid. I preferred Zelda and Pokemon. Pokemon is understandable becausei it was made by an Aspie, but I liked Zelda mainly because of the puzzles and the medieval fantasy aspect of the story.

I still do not understand the appeal behind Sonic and I probably never will.

Tails is my favorite Sonic character. Trying to pick between him and Timon as my favorite cartoon or fictonal character would be like trying to choose between two of my children.

yep i agree. like i'm more fond of machines then people, and used to turn human characters into cyborgs, androids, etc... actually i still do that, turned d.c. into a cyborg in my internal world a few days ago.

i also had a bad habit of making everyone an anthro back in the day, a few of my characters still retain some of that.

so i probably has something to do with avoiding the human element, which is why it took me forever to start drawing any character in human form.

I never draw people. The character I use to represent myself, will ALWAYS be a meerkat.

it took a very long time before i could draw people, i mostly started because my mom wanted to see me draw a person because she's not to familiar with the anthro style characters like i am, but when i started out with art i drew cars and trucks.

but the character that i use to represent myself is a cyborg fox, she only recently got a sort of human form, she still has her fox genes and her cyborg parts.

Like Bunnie Rabot from SatAM? She sounds really cool! Technically my fursona is an alien meerkat. People often think my fursona is a lioness. I think that's just because I was so used to drawing Lion King characters got used to feline form without realizing it. She's a subspecies/breed of meerkat from another planet. She has a tufted tail and felineish paws. I was considering changing her to a fossa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fossa_(animal), and I think it could work, but meerkats are my obsession. It used to bother me when people thought she looked like a lion, because to me she was so obviously a meerkat. I've always had problems with theory of mind.

I just say she is a meerkat/cat hybrid when someone wants to draw her. I really should work on her paws more to make them look like proper meerkat paws, but I've grown to like her having catlike feet. None of the Sonic characters have realistic paws anyway. I've seen other fan made meerkat characters and they have five digit hands or paws. Sonic and the other characters used to only have four, but apparently four fingers is associated with the mafia in Japan. Real life hedgehogs and foxes have paws with five digits anyway. I was never aware of Knuckles the echidna until very recently because I never played Sonic 3. When I saw commercials for it, I thought he was another hedgehog. But when I did finally learn of him, I already knew what an echidna was because I was always reading books and watching TV shows about animals. Anyway, Sonic, Knuckles and Timon (who apparently is supposed to be a meerkat too) look nothing like their real life counterparts, so what law is there saying a fan character has to look realistic?

I'm an aspie, and my main interest is Sonic (You can tell from my name.)

I'm mostly into the series for the gameplay and ROM hacking. Speaking of the latter, here's a little snippet from my Sonic 2 hack.

I played Sonic 6-7 hrs a day as a kid. I had all the Sega Genesis titles and a lot of the comics from Archie. I didn't get into the cartoons and have a hard time with the fast paced multidirectional aspect of the newer games. I had a hard time with fighting games where I was expected to sidestep a lot and the newer sonic games are complicated like that. That being said I think I'm more of Yuji Naka fan than Shigeru Miyamoto. I had a few Zelda games (loved Ocarina of Time) but I would play Sonic and Megaman non stop.

I also post over at Penny Arcade, and there's a gent there who goes by the moniker of "The Sonic ret*d"(I hate that last word, but most know him as TSR anyhow, which is easier for me). I have no idea if he's on the spectrum or not, but the dude has a level of knowledge and focus on all things Sonic that rivals any other Aspie I know in any focus.

I know he also posts elsewhere. But if there's anyone to talk to about Sonic games, it's him.

In any event, I've been a fan of Sonic games up until the First 360/PS3 game. Things kinda got bad for Sonic games after that for a time. Generations is good so far, though.

I also had an NT friend who was big on using Tails as his avatar everywhere, so it's not just Aspies.

The Sonic the Hedgehog series is a magnet for people with autism and similar disorders. It's just a fact.

Yuji Naka's best game is NiGHTS Into Dreams. Hands down. I poured so many freaking hours into that game when I was younger. And that's even without mentioning Dreams, Dreams (kid or adult). While my brother played Mario 64, I played NiGHTS.

I love Sonic, I prefer classic Sonic to new. I used to love playing the old games and still do thanks to owning the Sega collection on Xbox. Also just recently purchased Sonic Generations and am hoping it's good. I play on a site called iSketch where it's basically like pictionary. I go through phases of ending up drawing Sonic in EVERY word I have to draw. A few of my friends have ended up like 'omg not again' :P I think another part of me loving him so much is the fact he's blue. Growing up loving Sonic always made me wish real hedgehogs could be blue and all this talk of Sonic has made me want to go play now 8)
