I got an Atari 2600 when I was maybe six or seven. Had friends who were into that and had some good games, went up to Nintendo, then Genesis, actually quit pretty close to completely from age 13 to 19, around 19 I had friends who pulled me back to vs. mode on multiplayer FPS. After that my mind started opening back up to them a little. Still didn't play a whole lot aside from the rare or right rpg or survival horror. As of right now I'm kind of getting back to spending more time on them but more due to a lot of vacant time on my hands ATM than anything.

Got into gaming years and years ago, my first machine was a rubber keyed spectrum, which I played whenever I got the chance, arkanoid, jetpac, skoll daze, dizzy, wizball, bruce lee, spy hunter, head over heels, there were loads of good to great games for the old speccy.

I moved onto the Sega Master System after the spectrum, and played that to death too, can't really remember all of the games I played on it, but swiftly moved onto the Megadrive (Which I still have in the loft) Loced it, Sonic, Streets of Rage, the Shining series, Phantasy Star, Anything by Treasure.

I was away from the scene for a while and after hetting my first job, splashed out on a PS1, which I played an unhealthy amount of JRPG's on. I moved onto the PS2 after that and caved and bought an xbox after playing Halo at a friends. loved the Star Wars KOTOR games. My favourite consle of that generation was the Gamecube (Which I still have with a good sized collection of games) Zelda, Metroid, Killer7, Baten Kaidos, Viewtiful Joe, Ikaruga, Resident Evil.

Onto modern times, I have an xbox 360 and a PS3 (Mostly play my PS3 at the moment as a complete sucker for the HD collections that they keep churning out) which I play several times a week, so many good games and not enough time, still have a load of games in my to play pile (Which is almost a big as my toread pile of books) that I've not even touched yet.

So, to summarise, gaming has always been a big part of my life, maybe it's the escapism, or it could be the logically structured worlds that they create these days, or my obsession with collecting every flag/treasure/heart/weapon etc.

I remember playing Uno with my sister on the computer because we didn't have Internet at the time. My father was the main person to play games with me, mostly XBox and Gamecube (He bought me the Gamecube when it was $500) though I would like to play retro stuff (Duck Hunt, Mario Kart N64) at my grandma's.

There was a time when it cost $500? That's insane. 8O

I put the first games I got that I would consider videogames. The first computer game I played was chessmates. I didn't know how to play so I just clicked on merlin and he would tell me where to move. After 6 weeks I knew how to play really well.

I was probably around 11 or 12 and me and my brother got an atari, I think a sega megadrive too. I remember playing sonic and a couple other games, digger too!

At about 15 we got our first real PC and Command and Conquer was the first PC game I played. Because of that strategy games were my favourite for a long time.

The first game that had a real impact on me was Planescape: Torment (an RPG). One thing that really stuck with me on that game was the idea of "knowing" oneself. I guess that became one of my "rules" of my life, it had a huge impact and even now I still try to "know" myself. I would go so far to say that getting that rule is one of the defining moments of my life, I would be a very different person if I never played that game. I guess that game is also why Chris Avellone is the closest thing to a "hero," I want to be, that I have.

Canadian money. In USD that would've been like...$75 ;)
