Considering all of the hype that surrounded the Wii, there isn't nearly as much excitement for this new console.

Maybe Nintendo is keeping their cards close to their chest and giving us low expectations so they can exceed them because they have not provided much information about this console. We still don't know how the online system is going to work or the extent of its features and we haven't gotten a price yet.

Pikmin 3 and a Mario game look interesting, but it's not enough to make the launch appealing.

The announcement of Arkham City and Assassin's Creed 3 on a Nintendo console is a huge milestone for them, but their hardware better be ready to withstand the most bleeding edge games in 2017, instead of reaching that limit after 1 or 2 years of their console being launched like with happened with the original Wii.

Amazon (temporarily) listed wii U for preorder at £199, although they weren't suppost to and removed it the next day. Could be an expected price for the future, possibly.

As much as I'd like to try and be excited for the console, only a few titles have caught my eye and I'm neither fond of the Wii U Gamepad, or the Wii U Pro Controller. I'm only excited for two titles in the lineup, and I fear for the fate of the Virtual Console.

Anyway, I liked the idea of the Wii. I thought it'd be quite good for some games, ie, I'd really like an actual tactical shooter on it, like Rainbow Six or Operation Flashpoint, but alas, never happened. Never had a good adventure game in the vein of Shenmue or Fallout on it either as far as I know. So Wii disappointed me on that level, and then technically speaking as far as processing power and whatnot, it was about the same as an original Xbox. So I pretty much dislike Wii, really. I expect to dislike this Wii U, too, considering it's a Wii with a 2012 style Dreamcast VMU. Pretty snore worthy.

To be honest, I didn't even know Nintendo was coming out with this, I only vaguely recognized that and had to look it up to answer this thread. Maybe I'm just getting old. I in general am sort of mad at the direction video games are taking because of the Wii, moving away from the traditional buttons on a controller like it's always been to motion controls.

I've bought every nintendo console since the super nintendo back in the early 90s. Even if i don't plan on it, even if i completely ignore everything to do with it, i always just find that things slot into places and i just happen to have the money round about when they get released. It's happened a few times now so i think it's a strong possibility that ill be buying the new nintendo quite soon after launch.

Yeah, they did go downhill with the release of the wii, just it's only really that console that they messed up on and i think it was a direct result of not keeping up with the pack as far as graphics quality goes. The n64 was awesome, the gamecube was awesome, just the wii never really stood a chance. It might seem like forever that nintendo have been behind, just dont count them out, they only dropped the ball for one generation of consoles and if the graphics quality is there for the new wii they'll catch up and start being noticed again, you just watch.

Sony is going to do incredible though, God of war: Ascension, the Assassin's Creed 3 trailers and the idea of capturing screenshots around you for Vita games is awesome.

Also, Sony seems to be the only company with a lot of exclusives left. I hope that means they actually get some XBOX fans converted considering how vapid and moronic most xBOX players I've seen are...there's a reason the XBOX 360's library is half shooters.

Sony has the games I like: LittlebigPlanet, God of War, unique PSN games and generally good quality DLC.

I'm sorry SanityTheorist but i don't agree with what you just said about sony, sony games are just as uninspired as xbox, they never take risks, they don't stand a chance against the might of nintendo. New ideas are always going to be more exciting and that's what nintendo have in abundance, the best sony can hope for is to rip them off 18 months later.

Allthough the Wii U will get it's fair share of good games, Nintendo is not going to repeat the same success as they did with the first Wii. Who the f*ck wants to swing a sword or play tennis with a large tablet instead of the perfectly good Wii-mote we have today?

I don't think they're planning on replacing the Wiimote and nunchuk entirely, especially since they've shown both working together.

The hardware is more advanced than the PS3 and 360, it has been proven and confirmed (vaguely).
But it would be safe to say by the time Sony and Microsoft's new machines hit shelves in 2013/4 they will have superior hardware to the Wii-U.

Nintendo's console was more powerful than Playstation during the PS1 and PS2 era. So it's not at all surprising that WiiU may be more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox360.

It's funny how people pretend like the Playstation has always been more powerful than Nintendo's console just because it is this time around with the Wii.

Nintendo themselves said that the Wii U will be more like an next gen Ipad compared to the current and next gen console. The Wii U will use a AMD Radeon chip, PS3 and 360 had Nvidia, which is more powerful.

EDIT: Both the N64 and Gamecube were more powerful than the PS1/2, but the storage media severly limited the potoential of the console. By the time PS1 was realeased, The ROM cartridge the N64 used had been obsolete for more than a year or so, And the gamecube disk held less than half of the capacity of a DVD-ROM.

That article was mainly talking about how the next Xbox and PS4 which Sony hasn't even acknowledged the existence of yet. It actually sounded like the author was mad that WiiU may be more powerful than PS3/Xbox360 which is why he kept making hypothetical PS4 references.

Yeah, That explains why all the games made so far comfirmed for Wii U will be games already released on PS3/360 running at lower resolutions, less pixels per object.
