Playstation 3 = Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, God of War, Infamous, Killzone, Yakuza, Resistance

XBOX 360 = Gears of War, Halo

I think Playstation 3 wins for exclusives plus it has playstation classics, free online play and a blu-ray player.

Don't forget Sony's cartoonish adventure game series like Ratchet & Clank, Little Big Planet, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper. The brand new "Sly Cooper:Thieves in Time" that just came out for PS3 is amazing.

The Xbox 360 is a better console than the PS3. Both have most of the same third party titles, but Xbox 360 has better exclusives (aside from MGS4).

YES. I can't believe I didn't even think about these.

I've never been into jRPGs or platformers, so I was perfectly fine being a diehard Xbox fan for as long I stilled played on it and the 360. However PC gaming has been my thing for the last two years and nowadays the PS3 really does have way more exclusives than the Xbox 360. Still, I don't have any regrets, because some of my favorite gaming experiences I've ever had have been Xbox 360 exclusives.

List of Exclusives I Loved: Halo 3, ODST, Reach, Halo Wars, Chromehounds, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Earth Defense Force 2017, Crackdown

Well, it depends on what you want from a console.

Personally, I wish that I went with the PS3 instead of the 360 I own, due to the fact that the PS3 has many more JRPGs and a much better controller (not to mention the Blu-Ray player).

Same here. I never used to play RPGs because I thought my brothers would tease me for it. I missed out on so many good games for the PS2 and then we decided to get an Xbox 360. I recently played final fantasy 4, 5, and 6, on a GBA emulator and I just don't care what they think anymore. I want to order all sorts of games I missed on the PS2 and I wish we got a PS3. I'm not sure how I'm going to convince my family to get a PS4 when it comes out.

Seems like a trick question... the answer is PC right... no? How about PS1?.... Sorry, I have really disliked this console generation and it seems like I will dislike the next even more. I'm so glad I built my own gaming PC.

PS3.

For my taste, it's got:

-better exclusive games (Ratchet & Clank, the Yakuza games, the Disgaea games, inFAMOUS, God of War, etc.)
-better online, especially since you don't have to pay for it, and the (optional) subscription service is miles ahead of everyone else
-a much better controller. 360's controller isn't too good for anything outside of shooters IMO
-better online community, it's not totally full of pissed-off 9-year-olds
-better game selection on its online store (look at the PS1 and PS2 lineup and then compare it to the original Xbox lineup on XBLA)
-it seems a lot more dependable. All three of my 360s broke on me, while the one PS3 I had (that basically got sold without my permission) kept on ticking, and could take a beating.

Seriously, I can't fathom how people can like the 360 better, and why the 360 won in sales for the first 6 years. But that's the power of MS, I guess.

Neither is better, I suppose. It's just every individual's preference. I have Xbox 360, PS3, a gaming PC and a DS. Why? Because there are games I like to play on all of them. But my top preference is the 360. But just because Xbox is my favorite doesn't mean I'm going to deprive myself of the other systems. They have awesome games that I want to play as well.

It mostly depends on taste, but the PS3 has a clear advantage.

The advantages 360 has over PS3 are : some prefer the controller, the online service is never online, it's easier to program for so some games run a bit smoother (the only games where there was a real performance difference were Skyrim and the Fallout games.)

-But the most important aspect are the games. And this is where PS3 clearly is the winner.
Xbox 360 is mostly invested in action titles. The PS3 is the only platform on which you can find great games in ALL genres.
The last couple of years 360 has only had Halo (which IMO is one of the most overrated franchises ever), Forza and Gears of War (only franchise PS doesn't have an equal or superior answer to.)

You have to realize this generation of consoles is coming to an end. Sony has revealed the PS4 for a part, probably releasing it by the end of the year, whereas Microsoft is going to show the Nextbox this month. Also probably releasing it by the end of the year.
PlayStation is the only platform that gets good support after its release. Microsoft abandoned the original Xbox when 360 came out, and that system had its last exclusive triple A title early this year. There's only kinect cr*p being planned.
Sony promised a 10 year life cycle for the PS3, there are still several exclusives planned, and more soon to be announced.

XBL (Xbox online service) works better than the playstation network, but PSN is free. For a lower price than XBL you can get PlayStation+ It's 50 bucks for a year, but you can download tons of great free games such as Mass Effect 3, Hitman : Absolution and Bioshock 2. You can also use this feature to automatically update your software and upload your save games to a cloud, if your PS crashes.

However, I own/have owned all 5 PS systems (PSone, PS2, PS3, PSP, PSVita) and none ever broke down. 360 is infamous for lots of broken consoles.

And finally, PS3 has blu-ray, which is great if you own an HD tv. Once you're used to high definition you just can't go back to dvd.

Well, you haven't talked to everyone. I have always hated the Playstation controllers and Sony's unwillingness to improve the shape and feel of them. Its the short stumpy handles at an odd angle, and then they tacked on some thumbsticks in response to the N64, but they should have switched the position of the d-pad and left thumbstick on the transition to the PS2 when 3D gaming was clearly here to stay. They are functional, but they aren't good. At least Microsoft successfully has improved their controllers between the original Xbox controller getting replaced with the Controller S and further refined with the 360 pad. Nintendo on the other hand at least experiments with different things, sometimes it works(The thumbstick on the N64 was a gamble, hence the backup d-pad on the left side of the controller), sometimes it doesn't(The button placement on the Gamecube controller wasn't the best for certain games, especially fighting games), but at least they are willing to try. Can't say the same for Sony.
Sony hasn't changed it because it works so well.
The only change they needed to apply, they did for next-gen : Thumbsticks that curve inwards instead of outwards.
