If it will work just fine even if the kinect sensor breaks, then it would be better just to say that, and shoot down a possible additional criticism of the system's design, rather than being vague, and creating even more bad pr. The only possible explanation is that the system won't work if the kinect is damaged, or malfunctions, and MS just don't want to flat out say that.
Another thing that makes me proud to say that the Original Xbox, the REAL Xbox One, is better than the One itself.
