the point about playstation vita support is a big one for me. It means if you're playing your console and a family member wants to watch TV, you don't have to quit your game. You can carry on playing through the vita. Similar principle to the Wii U controller.

PC is better because you can customize the specs to your liking and it is easy to build one which will beat both the xbox one and the playstation 4. However if you don't want to build a PC with your own hands, get a console insted because all pre-built PCs I've seen are way overpriced. There are other advantages as well such as having all the good stratergy games, mods, vintage games and stimulators. Building a PC is loads of fun to, some people think it's really hard but it only takes 2 days and you learn alot.

PC isn't better but it suits some other people better.

Reasons-

-First and most importantly - PC's require periodic upgrades in order to play new releases. Arguably, the money you save on games you end up spending on hardware upgrades. i like being able to grab a game off the shelf and knowing it will work without having to check the box for tech specs.

-Theres still a bunch of console exclusives that won't see PC ports. Case in point, Killzone and Halo 5. Rumours circulate that GTA5 wont see the PC either because Rockstar don't want people modding it.

-PC games seem to better cater for some genres than others. If you're a MMORPG, RTS or simulator fanboy that is. If you want to play Battlefield 4 you'll need a state of the art graphics card and a severe gut punch to the wallet.

-PC maintenance is just a pain the ass generally. With a console you know you have a unit that can sit for years on end without hardware issues or the need for modifications. Oh, and with consoles you know your gaming port is safe from viruses and hackers!

So reason fall into:

1) The console's look. this is personal preference, and I really see nothing wrong with the simpler Xbox look than the overly complex playstation look.

2) The price. an obvious reason that keeps getting repeated. The video acknowledges the reason why, but then claims that this robbing choice from the player, a kind of dirty move to make Microsoft look worse.

3) Indie support. I noticed the video ignored the fact that the Xbox One will be able to be used directly for Indie game development. LINK

4) Better hardware. I would have liked if the video gave me an actual comparison rather than just using words like "consensus" and "on paper" and only saying what the PS4 can do.

5) For the gamer. Picking parts to make it look like the focus is away from games to make it look like the console is only for people who like "live sports and tv in a big way", the wording used is a little manipulative in appealing to gamers, and bringing up the controller thing like Xbox is doing some big betrayal with the Kinect. And then showing Sony's game focus and saying it is hardcore without any real comparison to what Microsoft said on that topic.

And should I even mention the music that tended to either get calmer or more excited as the person started to talk about the PS4 on any of the topics?

1) The appearance of the tool is the last thing I care for.

2) I never bought a console on release day, but normally wait about a year, until the prices are on normal level and were until now then quiet similar for X-Box and Playstation. That helped me as well being a Betatester and enduring stuff like the famous ring of death, and other "youth problems" of the consoles.

3) The reason why the indie market for X-Box games were not mentioned at the international presentation, is because there is no international indie market for X-Box games. Its a local thing, that is only working in the US.

4) I think they will be in general quet comparable when it comes to basic technic. But I fear, that this involving of "entertainment and multimedia center" will keep the X-Box from focusing totally on maximum gaming. So all of that sidestuff need ressources. If both have comparable prices, and one uses a part of its technical ressources for all kind of stuff instead gaming, then it sound reasonable for me, that the console, focusing on gaming, will deliver better results.

5) Its not about what Sony says, but about what Microsoft said at its own presentation. People were expecting the presentation of a game console, so you expected to get blasted with technical details, how much shadering it will be able to do, what game power will the console handle, what datastreams it can work with. And instead a mainpart of the presentation was about gimmicks. Thats simply makes people suspicious, because normally if a company is able to tell you something that works good for them and is an good advertisement for them, they will they you, so you buy their product. While trying to distract people from the core information of an product is normally a technique that is used, for products that lack other qualities. So when a company presents a gaming consoles, and then doesnt talk about the gaming console, but about them developing an television augment, it makes me suspicious.

6) About the Kinect itself, I am in fear, that it will end like the Wii. So not a technical gadget that will be used in games suiting for it, but as well forced on you on every kind of game, anyway if it suits or not. There were great Wii games, where using the remotes were fun. But there were as well tons of games, specially the multi plattform games, where they forced that Wii-movement controlling into the game by all means, anyway if it suited the game or not. I am afraid, that with he Kinect it might end the same way, end that I will end with an console, that makes me curse at various games.

And the most relevant reasons: Majority of my friends already decided toward the playstation, so buying an console, which I use with the focus on playing with friends that own no PC, is of no use, when the friends have another console.

In general with the actual X-Box I am absolutely sufficient (beside the old technic), I simply dont get it why they blasted their own console presentation. I mean if Porsche presents their new car, do you think people want to hear about how much power the motor delivers and what engine it has, or about some video-features of the display? O_o

Another reason, I've always been a Sony person, with my PS1, PS2 and now a PS3 on deck. It only makes sense.

I thought both Sony and Softie were leaving this up to the devs?

In any event, this video was put out in July, and I think a lot has changed since then. What made me notice the date was how I was left scratching my head over the comment made about Minecraft. It is coming to both the PS3 and PS4, announced sometime in September I believe...after this video was created. Not sure when exactly it is coming, but it is.

Actually, the number 4 is considered to be bad luck by the Japanese. :P

The number four:
The number four is considered inauspicious because it is pronounced the same as the word for death (shi). Therefore, one should not make presents that consist of four pieces, etc. In some hotels and hospitals the room number four is skipped.

Not that XBox One makes much sense, granted.

^Except the 4 in ps4 will be pronounced like the English 4, rather than the Japanese one. The number itself may be considered unlucky, but official products often have the same name worldwide, so this 4 won't be mixed up with the Japanese word for death.

Now, back on topic, my main reason for choosing the ps4 has nothing to do with hardware, or even the games. Ok, sure, I am looking forward to not only having the most powerful console, but one that devs actually understand how to work with. I also expect Sony will continue to support fans of multiple genres through plenty of different first party games(and I'm not just looking at the launch lineup).

The real reason I'm once again siding with Sony is that my philosophy regarding what a console should or should not be just doesn't sync up with MS's at all. We clearly don't see eye to eye. For one, I hate motion control, and think it should be a completely optional accessory at most, and I certainly don't want to be forced to pay for such a peripheral. But, most of all, I've always bought game systems for the games. I'm all for systems having as many features as possible, as long as games are the focus. If the company behind a system thinks of it as a media hub first, and a gaming system second, then as far as I'm concerned, they got it backwards, and I refuse to pay a penny for such a system, let alone $500. Granted, pennies are fast becoming a relic of the past, but I won't pay a nickel for such a system either. I paid $400 for a gaming system that is also a media hub, because it isn't a media hub that is also a gaming system.

Sadly it seems to be now official, that Microsoft messed it up. The first game releases for the consoles are there, so comparison of the actual game qualities could now be made by tech magazines. (Simply comparing technic of the consoles, were not that easy, because of the cloud processes Microsoft announced, so they said that part of the missing technical performance of their console would be catched up by outsourcing processes Online into the cloud.) Microsoft always answered questions about the hardware differences, that due to their programming and the cloud-outsourcing, the games of both consoles will in the end show the same quality.

Battlefield 4 has now been compared at both consoles:

X-Box: 1280 x 780 pixels = 998.400 pixels
Playstation: 1600 x 900 Pixels = 1.440.000

In the end, thats 50% more graphic quality. :(

It has been acknowledged that there has been a great effort from Microsoft for the edge-smoothing, so at non-moving pictures they managed to make that difference not really recognizable with the eye, which is because of the huge pixel difference really a creditable work, but when it comes to Movie cut scenes and movement, its recognizable. As well as Playstation offered a slightly higher framerate.

You could argue, that they might have only messed up this one game, but because of Battlefield being one of THE release games, producers normally care to make them total eyecatchers, for convincing people to buy their new consoles. So it can be supposed, that they gave as much effort as possible. :(

This differences might not be as much in other games, but because of my friends mostly buying the new consoles for playing Battlefield 4, if the technical datas dont change, they will choose the Playstation, as will I to play with them.

Still: The game comparison were made on pre-release versions of both consoles, that were sent to gaming and technic magazines. So there are rumors, that Microsoft actually works on equipping their consoles, instead of the actual 12 graphic units (3 x 4 blocks), with 16 (4 x 4 blocks) as Playstation actually has, which actually (if they further show the kind of good graphic programming) would allow them to catch up or even overtake with Playstation. The question is, if this is really done so short before the release, if the console wont be again a beta-testing machine for gamers, like the first X-Box release series, that offered famous problems like the "red ring of death"... Definitely right now, offering a release price that is 100 EUR more expensive then the more powerful competitor, wont get them the customers, so either they need to become cheaper or more/equal powerful.

Definitely announcements and releases like those two days ago, that it will be able to play audio CDs, wont help them. ^^

Small beside detail: Community is a bit pissed right now, because Microsoft actually released an advertisement for Battlefield 4 on their new console, that has now been proofed to show pictures of the naturally much better PC-version of Battlefield. -.-

The nice thing about Xbox One not being reverse compatible is that there is no reason to buy it so you can keep playing your existing Xbox titles.

Go with PS if you wish. 8)

There were announcement from both companies, that (as it actually exists for the actual consoles) favorite X-Box and PS3 games will be offered after a workaround for the new consoles, and that further owners of the X-Box and PS3 games might get them with a bonus or for free. Sadly nothing of that has been released as fact until now, so this would have been at least one reason to keep up with Microsoft.

The video seemed a little absurd to me. Who cares what it looks like? The specs? PS4 looks to be more powerful, but they're almost identical. Not a big difference really. Indie friendly? So is Xbox1. Price. Ok, good point there. $100 more for a device I may not even use. No thanks. Ps4 mpre gamer centric? Meh. Really, if you like the games on Xbox, then get it. I like my Sony exclusives, though. So, the only good question is is whether or not you want to pay more money for a system that you see better potential with as far as exclusive games. I preordered my ps4 late. I sold some stuff I realized I didn't use so much anymore. My 3DS for one thing. I'm not that big on handheld gaming. Maybe some Angry Birds or Candy Crush once in a while, but my cheap android can do that. Anyways when I realized I'd have the money, I just went or it. But since I preordered from Walmart.com, the only site that still sold the system, I may still wait awhile before it arrives. At least within a month, anyway.
