Besides that I once had a Lunar 2 save go corrupt on a PS1 memory card. Another time I had a Dragon Warrior 3 save delete itself.

The most notable incident I've had of having a save corrupted for me would be having a save for the original Fable be corrupted, a game with a basic autosave system that only ever kept one autosave and only made one when you started/finished a quest or when you loaded a save. It was actually pretty next-gen for the time, but as you may be able to guess, if you had a corrupted save, but the game loaded it enough to try and make it try to make an autosave, you could easily lose both of your most recent saves to corruption in a game where you normally only make regular saves at the end of a play session. Losing hours and hours of time like that sucked indeed.

No, and I'm glad it's never happened to me...

I had a corrupted save on one of my Pokemon games once and I completely flipped my lid. Granted, it was a long time ago but still things like that piss me off.

Speak of the devil. I was playing through the first Shantae game on the 3ds. Today, I reached the 4th labyrinth, and I got partway through it when the game froze. When I reset it, my save was gone, so I watched the remainder of the game on YouTube. I would have preferred to have beaten the game myself, but I guess that gives me a reason to replay the game sometime in the future(I wasn't in the mood to do it now, hence why I took the lazy route and watched the rest of it on YouTube. The first Shantae is a surprisingly challenging game, and it wasn't easy to get to the point I was at, so it was really frustrating. I wanted to cry, but I guess if that won't make me do it, nothing will. Oh well, what's done is done. I'll just have to live with the regret of not finishing the game myself. :roll:

Uh oh O_O

Like, all of your saves? Or just the quicksave from when you stop playing?

The quick save just took me back to when the game was frozen, so it didn't help me, and then my data was lost on top of that. Sadly, I only had the one save. It's the virtual console release of the Gameboy Color game, so I could have used restore points, but chose to play it using only the in game save data. :( I guess I learned my lesson for next time. Also, I can't save over empty files. Saves are locked to one file. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I started playing the dsi sequel, Risky's Revenge. The sequel actually appears to be easier so far. The game is saved the same way though, and I don't have the option of using restore points this time. I guess I just have to cross my fingers that the sequel isn't plagued with a similar game breaking bug.

Come to think of it, several of my Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas saved games have been f*cked up more than once.

Oh man, I'm going to have to do that now, thanks for the warning.

I haven't gotten very far in it yet...yeah, the first game seems a lot harder than the second game.

You're welcome. I don't want anyone else to go through what I did. I haven't gotten very far into the sequel yet(I'm new to the series as a whole), but the original is a really good game IMHO. It's challenging, and can have its frustrating moments, and it isn't a perfect game by any stretch, but parts of the game are really cool. Even though it's challenging, the experience feels rewarding enough. That said, I wasn't about to just go back and start it all over again. I put in too much time and effort to just shrug that off like it was nothing. I'm quite conservative with save states(which is essentially what restore points are). Since they aren't part of the original game, I like to use them sparingly, if at all. However, I have now learned that it's a good idea to use them as backup, because you never know what might happen.

Well, my PS2 refuses to read my very first PlayStation memory card. I'm not sure if that counts as corruption or not since it just acts like the card isn't even in the slot. ^.^;

I guess I've been lucky and I tried to read about games corrupting in advance in order to prepare myself in case it ever happened to me.

I have that issue as well. You have to jiggle the card a bit & it will eventually be acknowledged ( btw, I always go into the browser rather than let the game boot up to ensure my memory card is being read )

Also, my PS2s ( we have 2, both old models ) refuse to read blue discs ( which means I can't play my copies of Half-Life & Oni ) and for some reason won't boot up GTA Vice City ( which is my fave and I really want to play it as I'm most of the way through the story )
