Dawn of Sorrow has one of the best powers/weapons in a video game ever. You can throw plates of hot curry at enemies. Top stuff, lol.

Back to Persona 3, it's been a long while since I played it last. I just remember the odd racy bit on that front. Persona 4 however is a little louder on that subject. That much I remember for certain.(Not that I have a problem with it personally)

^Yes! I love throwing curry at enemies! It's in Aria too, I think. I also like growing tails and throwing cards in Dawn.

I'm asexual, so sexual content is extremely uncomfortable for me. Then again...I do like dressing up my heroes in Fire Emblem Fates and Dragon Quest IX in slightly revealing outfits. I'm a weird girl. Oh, and is there much swearing in Persona 3?

Aria of Sorrow is really good, better than Dawn on the balance of things; obviously the graphics aren't as good but it hasn't got any magic seal nonsense and everything else is probably better than Dawn. It might be tied with Symphony of the Night and Portrait of Ruin for best metroidvania imo

Not sure that Persona 3 seems like the sort of game that would be appropriate for you, from what you're saying.

^I have Symphony too, but I've never played Portrait. I'm now thinking of trading in Dawn for Aria.
Yes, I guess you're right. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Oh well. I guess I'll go play Harvest Moon instead. :)

Portrait is definitely one of the more interesting ones, the castle itself is smaller but there are several portraits which you enter to take you into distinct levels. I think that the developers realised at this point that the castle setting was a bit samey so they used the portraits as a way of introducing original levels. You have two characters which gives you more options than the other games, because as well as being able to switch on the fly you can press a button to quickly call your ally for a subweapon/magic attack or a unison move. Oh, and whips are back in, in addition to all of the usual weapons.

Literally just finished playing through most of the games again recently, so this is all incredibly fresh on my mind!

^I've been playing Dawn lately, but that darned Clock Tower is the bane of my video game existence [that and timed segments/self destruct escapes]. Any tips on how to get through it easily and quickly?

Not up to the boss yet, then? I can't think of any specific tricks, I recall it being the usual annoying vertical platforming with medusa heads and spikes but I've been conditioned to those by literally every other Castlevania game ever! An obvious general suggestion is to use the warp room partway through to travel to a save point, maybe see if you can get any better gear or weapon upgrades while you're at it. If you still find it hard, have you explored everywhere else that you can go? Might be able to get some level ups at the least. Sorry for the rubbish advice!

^No, your advice is fine. Lately I've been swimming around the water level trying to get extra abilities. I haven't defeated that disgusting boss in the Condemned Tower yet either.

Waitwaitwait, you can get to the clock tower without doing the condemned tower boss? I'm sure I remember beating him to get the key to get to the clock tower... but I could be totally wrong/am probably totally wrong.

The condemned tower boss can be hard, he hits for heavy damage but his moves are generally easy to avoid and he gives you plenty of opportunities to get close and do damage. I remember he gets tougher after smashing the floor and dropping you to the bottom but I don't recall it being too bad.

There's an area in the south-west of the map that you can get to using a certain soul. I don't remember what's there, and it's totally optional, but if you haven't explored it I recommend doing so. If you're unsure, I THINK it connects to the wizardry lab. Guessing you've done the silenced ruins and beaten bat company?

And you know, there's actually a hard mode which unlocks when you finish the game. I haven't tried it but the equivalent in Portrait of Ruin is brutal to the point of not really being enjoyable. Guessing you aren't going to replay on that? ;D

e: random note, when I played through Dawn of Sorrow this time it was via the means of emulation, my DS has a bust right trigger sadly. Anyway, those magic seals? They're worse with a mouse believe me ._.

^No, I haven't gone to the Clock Tower yet; I'm putting it off as long as possible. I can't get to the Silenced Ruins before the Clock Tower. :x Rgh. Yeah, the extra part of the Wizardry Lab is fun, except for the area with the Ghosts and invisible walkways.
The magic seals annoy me a lot, especially when they get complicated. :x
On a happy note, I got Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns today, and I'm quite enjoying it. I guess I prefer games where you aren't running around killing things. When I play games like that, I almost always run away instead.

It may have lost it's relevance, but to answer your question, I recall Persona 3 having a bit of swearing, but not a lot.

Castlevania wise, I wish I could remember more, but it's been a few years now since I played Dawn of Sorrow, so my memories of it have gotten pretty hazy. As far as I recall, I remember getting to the trickier end of the game, and then just farming abilities, equips, and acquiring a few levels along the way. I think I did that as I was finding myself in a bit of difficulty too.

Order of Ecclesia was my first one. I really played the heck out of that one I remember. Also got very into the Boss Rush mode too.

I can't remember if I ended up getting Portrait of Ruin or not. I want to say no, but I remember thinking about getting it. Ashamed to say there's probably a few games in my overall collection I'll have forgotten I have, as for the longest time I was terrible at getting round to playing things.

^I find Ecclesia so beautiful. *dreamy sigh* :!: Oops. Anyway, I have a specific collection of games, around twenty [mainly fantasy RPGs.] Is anyone interested in a list? :)
Oddly enough, despite all the sexual stuff and violence in the Persona games, there's something about them that fascinates me. Maybe it's because they are so different than any other game I've seen, and so weird yet oddly compelling? *shrug*

I kind of feel like a complete hypocrite now after going on about how I don't like scary/horror stuff, since Claymore is my favourite manga series [well, along with Clamp manga...]. If there's ever a series that needed an M rating, Claymore is definitely it: violence, tons and TONS of blood, lots of female nudity, monstrous eldritch abominations, and horrific onscreen deaths [only seven main characters survive in a series that has almost more than a hundred]. Now I feel silly. Oh, and most of the characters are lesbian. I guess I'm just so used to Claymore than I forget about everything in it. [It's rated Older Teen, and I started reading it when I was twelve. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made.]
Sorry, everyone.

She could definitely play Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Symphonia (not the awful sequel, the Gamecube game) since she has a 3DS and Wii.

Personally I've played almost all of the Tales games that have been released in English. The battle system is neat and typically the games have pretty bad stories but lots of character interaction. Graces is probably my favourite but that's PS3 only. Symphonia is generally well-liked given that it was most people's introduction to the series (mine, too) and has HD versions available so it's not so hard to find

On the note of fantasy RPGs if you have a PSP (also on PC and should run on any old thing given how dated they are) you really should play the two Trails in the Sky games, they're amazing. Literally cried at the end of the first game ahaha~

My friend has Symphonia, and he said it was one of the best RPGs he ever played.
I've never heard of Trails in the Sky. I'll look them up.
