I'm not a fan of the wii... I tried it and I didn't see what the big deal was.

Only thing I don't like about the Wii is Harmonix totally gyped us with Rock Band. Other than that, I've got way more games for the Wii than I'd have for 360 (if I had a 360)...just about every big game for 360 comes out for PC anyway.

Yeah, the controls aren't as exact as on other consoles and the graphics are worse than PS2 graphics.

Instead of graphics they concentrated on gameplay, resulting in graphics worse than the gamecube.

That console couldn't handle Pac-Man

Some of the Nintendo published titles have better graphics than any PS2 game. Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda TP, and Super Paper Mario are good examples.

This is also true for a number of Gamecube titles.

Yeah, I know, but I reckon most of the games with good graphics are the one's made by Nintendo.. The games that are made by other developers and stuff are just rubbish...

The Wii has been a huge disappointment for me. I have a few games on it but I don't really like any of them. But at least it can play GameCube games and has the Virtual Console.

It's alright. I think they could do a lot better with the games... The new games pretty much blow.

Now, the reason for so many party games is that the wii is designed with two-player games in mind. It was supposed to be a social machine, which inspired the name wii. The 2 i's are supposed to represent people side by side, playing. Thats the reason for so many games like wii sports, wii play, mario and sonic, and all other party games. So, if you're intending on playing the wii, go online or find a friend to play with. The reason the wii has so much hype is, since the games like pong, released way back when, to the games like the 360, they've all had pad controls. The wii is so famous because of motion-controls. This is my theory on the reason, i dont know if thats exactly it. Games such as boxing, i have to admit, are a lot more fun on the wii as you imitate the movements of the right hook. Games like deadrising, i think will fail on the wii, but, it isnt down to me. Its down to how you all play. Now, i will talk about deadrising for a bit. As the wii has a weedy engine, it cant handle crowds as large as on the xbox. But, they make up for that with, and i quote, "Zombie parrots and poodles". Thats also the reason graphics are quite bad. Yes, they focused on gameplay, but the wii main engine is quite weedy. So, those are either the best graphics the wii can muster, or if it makes MUCH better, it will probably lag. Hope i answered some questions and statements.

Meh. It may not have a lot of games overall, but when it comes to games that actually interest me it's got as many as the 360 and PS3 combined... quantity of games doesn't count for much if 90% of them don't interest you.

Well, you don't really have to exert yourself... just because the adverts on TV show people using exaggerated movements doesn't mean that the console won't respond to anything less. Most stuff doesn't require more than a flick of the wrist.

Since I only play single player games, I like games with complex/exciting gameplay mechanics and interesting stories. Also, after the first time I played a Wii (after playing a 360 and PS3) it turns out I'm a much bigger graphics whore than I thought and so I just don't get into the Wii games as much. The only Wii game that I really liked was the Zelda game but, IMO, it was even better on the Gamecube because of the traditional controls. After I beat Zelda, I sold my Wii because there hasn't been anything I've wanted to play on it since.

Give the Wii a break, Nintendo have just decided to market it to huge fans of Mario games and non gamers.

I love the Wii, don't get me wrong, but there aren't enough great games. But can you really blame them for not releasing many big things? As Reggie Fils-Aime said, they released Galaxy just over a year ago, so you can't really expect that many new things to be done already. They're working on it, but it's not ready yet.

Luckily, though, there's No More Heroes and Trauma Center.

i've had my Wii since launch and i really enjoy it. but i mostly bought it because of Virtual Console. i don't have as much time to play games as i once did so at the moment i enjoy games that're simple, fun, and to the point, which the Wii does in spades.

what sucks though is that there are really good games (like No More Heroes and Baroque) but it takes forever to wade through the shovelware. i'm kinda sad the graphics aren't better because the Wii is a perfect interface for first person shooters, and other than The Conduit (which doesn't have a publisher yet) this hasn't really been taken advantage of.

also, i've been really irritated by how slow Virtual Console has been taking adding new titles this year. i mean they've added only two new SNES titles since launch. granted they were Mario RPG and Secret of Mana but no Earthbound? c'mon man! get with it!

If you're a social person, I think the Wii is definitely more enjoyable. I just can't enjoy playing games like Wii Sports by myself.

The consensus so far among this thread seems to be that the Wii is perfect for non-gamers or casual gamers, which is what I've thought of Nintendo since the Gamecube. I have to admit, it is a good strategy for the company as their sales slumped during the XB/PS2/GC era of consoles. I don't think Nintendo can compete with Sony or Microsoft when it comes to creating a serious gaming system, and thus they have played upon their strengths and created a system ideal to the marketing niche Nintendo is good for. Thus I would have to say the Wii is a complete success. I just bought one for my sister for Christmas- she is not a gamer at all but wants a Wii, and most of her friends play Wii; if it can appeal to females then it appeals to 50% more people then the rest of the console market.

Ick, the original Xbox was not a good system at all to me. The Gamecube had tons of addicting games, while the Xbox had.... Halo. And if you're not big on FPS's (like myself) than the original Xbox kinda sucked. I also don't much care for the controller, and the dashboard is depressing to me. It really is all preference though.

It can be broken down like this:

If you're into platformers, party games, quirkiness, and innovation Nintendo's the way to go.

If you're into shooters, sports games, online play, and a bit of a graphics whore Microsoft's the way to go.

If you're into RPG's and compelling storylines, Sony's the way to go.

If you're like me and like to be with then 2 people at any given time, Play wii. Ive stated before, its a social machine, (Think about it: wii, we.). Those who like the feeling you're actually having an effect on games (i love games like mass effect, as choices you make affect the game.) If you like the feeling of being in the game, the wii is the one for you as you can move around with the game. Such as sonics forthcoming game, when he uses his blade (Yes im as shocked as you are. Sonic has a sword), i belive this is on wii, you have to swing the wii remote to get the sword going. Tomb raider on wii, you have to pull the switches with the wii remote. Now, if you like the great looks and swearing at people online, 360 is your console of favouritism. Games like Tom Clancys EndWar, Will be very popular among the people who like the feeling of being in a game by using voice control. For example, Play EndWar, say into the mic, "unit 5 engage hostile 5" your troop will move and engage. For certain exclusive games, like Resistance, You would like the PS3. Now, in my opinion, i would dislike the control, but if you can find it easier, you can use it. Now, i know the kind of people that would laugh at you if you told them they had the opposite console. For example, one time i said to a friend of mine, "Have you got a 360?" to which he replied "No, i got a PS3. Why, what one you got?". I replied 360. He then laughed at me and insulted me. Now, they dont take it too seriously. Im off subject. Point is, it all comes down to your personality whether you like the wii or not. if you're that kind of no shamem gotta move around, like making people laugh, play on wii. If you're a kind of casual, play every now and then, like shooters, get a 360. The PS3 can really be referred to as the online console along with 360.

Anyone think that if you ask a girl to come to your place and play with your Wii she may take it the wrong way?
