I know what you mean, I hate it when games come out on consoles first and a year later are ported to the PC. Considering many games are created on PC. Or ONLY AVAILABLE on <limited platforms>

I hate GTA IV for it's "new driving system" I use my left hand for player movements, my right hand for mouse aiming. When I drive, I ignore the mouse and use my right hand and use the keypad. The new system means I have to have 2 right hands, one to change the way I look, and the same hand to drive.
Apparently this is realistic? I don't turn a corner and leave my head the way I WAS going; I have my head in-line with the bonnet. Maybe slightly looking to where I am going depending on corner.
I hate the way the camera is offset to the left for the cars. That's great if ALL you drive is a left hander, but I am much used to a right hander car, so judging the gap on the passenger side is harder as it's practically a new game.

How would a "throttle" "steer" and "look" be laid out anyway on a console. right thumb for go. Left thumb for steer, what else is left top adjust view precisely? How is this "better" ???

People get used to it, but I don't have to do this on Rally games I play, so this is like a new game entirely. Then there are a few more issues. SecuROM, Account linking (how the hell does that work anyway) I can't get it to work

I think it depends on your chosen keymapping and the games you play. I won't use a laptop for gaming because of limitations

I prefer consoles primarily because I use my computer for other things and I really don't like having to buy a new gaming computer every year just to be able to play the newest games. The consoles are just plug and play. I don't have to worry about installation, video card drivers, setting up internet settings to be able to get online, in addition, I find the keybord and mouse controls awkward.

I notice a lot of people seem to be under the impression that PCs don't support gamepads/joysticks/etc.

Though the modern PC market does seem to be somewhat lacking in games that actually utilize them...the Lego series is the most modern one I can think of.

I generally prefer consoles because I dont see the point in throwing large amounts of money at your computer every year or two for only a couple of games. Consoles are way cheaper in the long run.

However, if there's a PC game that'll run well on my hardware, AND is completely butchered on the console, I'll take the PC version(any version of The Sims is a perfect example of this).

You wouldn't have to worry about getting a new computer every couple years if you buy the correct one for your needs.
Buying a budget computer will mean you will run into a wall every time a new game comes out.
Buying a mid-range computer will mean expandability yet still have enough to cover the minimum specifications
Buying a top of the line computer will ensure you can run anything for a while in top settings before lag is experienced.

Well, you can also get an expensive games computer and in 1-2 years just get a graphics card/CPU update, maby add an additional memory stick and a new harddrive, then sell the old stuff on E-bay, or give the stuff to friends, or make a computer for your parents or whatever.

That makes it not as expensive as you would believe.

A hard drive will be quicker than a memory stick as they are slow at around 4MBps A hard drive is much quicker

Well, gamepads don't work well with RTS's... thats part of why that genre is largely lacking on consoles...

I know what you mean... except for Bethesda, Blizzard, and maybe Valve. pretty much every other major studio has sold out to consoles... Bethesda, while it makes console releases, still releases on the PC first (and releases their development tools only for PC users), and Valve is pretty much the same, while Blizzard is the only company to remain completely PC-only (we'll see if that changes with the release of Starcraft II or not)...

Memory stick as in a piece of memory you mount inside your computer. If i had meant a USB memory stick, i would have written that.

Don't work very well with FPS either, I just noticed there were a few people who preferred consoles because they didn't like mouse + keyboard, and a lot more people who just generally made it sound like mouse + keyboard was the only control option on PC (or maybe I'm just reading into it too much).

I heard Diablo 3 was going to go console, but Idunno if it's true or not...I don't really follow Blizzard at all.

And Valve is starting to turn to the dark side =/ They've been releasing updates for 360 before the PC updates, lately...and we still have the inferior versions of HL2 and Ep1 on PC  I'm pretty sure the Portal expansion pack hasn't been released for PC, either.

I like playing both types of games, but favor PC games even more, mainly because of their mod-friendliness. You can actually go online and d/l free custom content for many PC Games, or make your own content to add a personal and unique touch to such computer games as The Sims and Elder Scrolls (Morrowind/Oblivion) games...

Search "memory stick" and see what the problem is. If you mean memory, why didn't you say so? I don't think USB memory sticks even exist? Memory sticks themselves can be written to at around 4MBps. Depending on quality

I've used a couple of search engines with "memory stick" (no quotes)

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_stick
Google http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=memory ... =firefox-a (My browser uses the UK part to search)
Yahoo http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=mem ... -8&fr=moz2
eBayUK http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=mem ... -8&fr=moz2

All storage media.
