I just pre-ordered Cataclysm. So all I gotta do now is play the waiting game lol.
I understand BlizzCon is in November - I'm hopeful that a release date will be announced then. The best part is that the world changes from the Cataclysm will be applied to everybody - the only parts reserved to the expansion are the two new races, the new level cap, and (I think) the new profession. I'll still be able to create a human Hunter...
Since Halo: Reach was released on my birthday, I got it as a present. Been playing both campaign mode and Matchmaking, and I am impressed. The campaign mode has the proper atmosphere of "we're never going to save this planet, the best we can do is save as many people as possible" (because it's been part of the Halo backstory since the first game that Reach had already fallen to the Covenant), and the new weapons and craft are cool (you even get a short sequence in which you get to pilot an experimental space-superiority fighter in orbit!).
I'm also impressed with the new Matchmaking system - I am able to select players that are of approximately the same skill level as myself, who want to play as part of a team, and who don't spend all their time trash-talking each other, so it's a lot more fun for me than the old system from previous iterations of Halo, where I had to remember to go and mute all the other players so I didn't have to listen to them questioning my racial identity and sexual orientation after team-killing me for not being "good enough" for them. (It always seemed odd to me that other men would claim I must be gay, while simultaneously teabagging my corpse - an act both homosexual and necrophiliac in nature...)
