This is more of a genre that needs to be remade, but I want space combat simulators to come back. A modern remake of the Wing Commander series or something.

I'd also like to see a modern game set in the Zork universe. An open world, sandbox style game.

Re: Wing Commander, they tried. I think the movie really was what killed the franchise. They tried for a spin-off (Privateer), but then went off into some strange land with Privateer II.

With EVE and such out there, building a complete offline universe for 1 retail sale... really isn't cost effective.

Privateer II came out back in 1996. StarLancer and Freelancer were the last ones to come out in the genre Freelancer came out in 2003 so being 10 years old, I think we're due.

Star Wars Shadows of the Empire: Just make it look more like the Force Unleashed, add more video cinematics and missions, major characters such as Luke, Leia, Darth Vader, and Xizor should have more appearances in the game. Boba Fett looked very crappy in the N64 graphics.

I forgot about them. If Star Citizen delivers as an effective MMORPG, it will effectively be Privateer II/Freelancer turned into a MMORPG.

Final Fantasy 6 must be remade! I would love to see the whole steam punk style of that game in fully realized 3d. I actually started work on a modern 3d model of the magitech armor from that game. Was going to do the steam punk style of it instead of the one that appeared in the original for SNES/ Super Famicom.

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was one of my favorite portable games. I do realize that DX came out a long time ago, too, but it still was fun to play.

The fact that the 3DS can have Ocarina of Time on it does not bode well for the classic 2D Zelda games.

I think that pretty much all of the old Super Nintendo RPGs deserve a modern-day remake. Illusion of Gaia was one of my favorites, but all the similar games like Secret of Mana, Zelda: Link to the Past, etc. Those games were some of my most enjoyable gaming memories, games nowadays just don't have the same sort of character. I don't really know what it was about them either, in many cases they didn't have the greatest story-lines or gameplay, but they were just so darn enjoyable!

Oh, and there are a few recent RPGMaker games that I would LOVE to see get a modernized upgrade. Exit Fate, Last Scenario, and Master of the Wind are a few of my favorites, they're all done incredibly well and have really engaging plots with a few truly thought-provoking themes.

I don't know about a remake, but at the very least, somebody needs to retranslate it.

I tried replaying it a few years ago, and man, that localization is really, really bad :x I'm surprised fans haven't gotten on that one.

I'd have to go back to 1996 and say EA's Road Rash, the basic game concept and gameplay and of course the wonderful 1990's grunge soundtrack was perfect, just some better graphics, updated motorcycles and perhaps online play. I honestly don't trust EA to do a good job anymore though so maybe its better to just leave that epic game alone.

They were going to make a new one a few years back, but it got cancelled pretty early on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvHz2u-33Y4

There was also going to be a new IP by ex-RR devs, but 3DO went out of business and the game went with it: http://www.opusgames.com/games/jacked/jacked.html
