Got a few decent pickups in the last psn sale. Destroy all Humans 1 & 2, Darksiders remasters 1 & 2, and the Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero DLCs.
Shantae DLC was...ok. Considering it’s already my least liked of the series, I suppose it was made more interesting anyway. Playing as Risky was probably my favorite since it was closest to Pirate’s Curse, and the fan service wasn’t bad. Other modes were fun but more gimmicky and not worth much effort, so I eventually put it down again.
Only played a bit of Destroy All Humans, but so far it seems pretty fun despite its age. I did hear some good things about it, so I’m excited, but want to keep expectations in check. Decided I’d wait til after I play the Darksiders games to continue. I did look up who made it, as the style really reminds me of Saints Row 1 & 2, but apparently the only connection is the publisher.
Darksiders is kind of entertaining but also kind of odd. Mostly very teenage angst edgy, which is unintentionally hilarious. I’d tried the demo for 2 years back, at the insistence from friends that it’s “like Zelda” but I just did not see it. Even here I don’t see it, it’s definitely more something like God of War, but it’s not necessarily bad. Maybe it’s just because I picked easy or I’m spoiled by Platinum, but it seems there’s not really the whole switching between light and heavy attacks for combos or anything. It’s ok as is but it makes it feel a bit stiff. The pacing is not great, but then I guess in that regard it’s not actually very different from the Metroid Prime games essentially being big, open FPS games. I just seem to get burnt out on this faster. Especially with how expensive everything in the shop seems to be, so I never can afford new combos without feeling like I’ve wasted souls. Despite all this, it’s enjoyable. Hope the 2nd one is better, but I’ve heard some stuff about crashes.

Once there were trees full of birds,
meadowlands vibrant with flowers.
Carefree the songs our children once sang,
gilding our minutes and hours;
Clouds came and covered the sun,
the breath of a baleful unease,
turning to ashes flowers in their fields,
silenced the birds in the trees.
