Well, I'll be on my way to Viridian Gym, and... hey look, it's that mutant again!'

Image

'Spending time' means you raving on about some rare Pokémon you found, or that cool PC system you made that everyone seems so fond of? I've got a f*ckin' Flareon, Bill, a FLAREON!

Image

Wait, a cruise you say? Hmm, it almost seems like turning you into a human again was a good idea. Almost. All right, I'll come with you. I might actually enjoy it.

Image

Dramatization of the boat journey - is not necessarily an accurate description of real events:

Image

I had imagined a more exotic destination, but OK.

Image

Bill introduces to his friend Celio, who explains we can't access our PC on this wretched island. And there's not even a Poké Mart! I know we couldn't trust that mutie.

Image

Do I look like a Delibird to you?

Image

That's right, everything comes at a price.

Image

So true, old man.

Image

You're crazy, woman.

Image

Well, isn't this a depressing little island chain. Let's go to Two Island.

Image

There's some sort of Game Corner on this island. I of course investigate what it is, but it turns out to be void of one-armed bandits and TMs. Such blasphemy. The only thing we find is a grown man crying. At first I thought it was because noone would visit his lousy Game Corner, but it turns out to be about a missing daughter.

Image

Suddenly, an intelligent young man comes in and gives sophisticated criticism to this Game Corner.

Image

OK, not that intelligent.

Image

What a great selection of merchandise.

Image

I hope there's something more interesting on Three Island.

Image

Looks like fun! Can I join?

Image

Oh right, I'm supposed to be all good and valiant and all that jazz.

Image

I wanna make you bleed.

Image

Type disadvantages, Bug being weak to Poison, you say? NIEMALS!

Ashamed of being beaten by a damn butterfly, the Kanto Biker Federation leaves.

Image

You mean that lunatic? What about her?

Image
Image

*slowly backs towards the exit*

ImageImage

She's crazy, I tell you!

Image

Be sure to bring a Pokémon with Cut with you, and be as obnoxiously loud as possible.

Image

This bugger poisoned my Primeape, which became so enraged that it wanted to smash it to pulp in the most excruciating way possible. I decided to have mercy upon it, and enslave it instead.

Image

A Hypno makes some pretty inappropriate gestures towards this girl, so I'd better help the girl out.

Image

This Pokémon has tough qualities. I'll take it.

Image

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Image

He thanks you for helping him and so on. He would have done better as a geologist than owner of a Game Corner.

Image

We're back on Kanto soil again! *kisses ground*

Er, yeah. That should be all for today. :P

I sometimes kill legendaries. The legendary birds in Red and Blue just completely sucked, Mewtwo was the only one worth getting. For most other rare Pokémon, the experience points from killing them were more valuable than filling up another slot in my Pokédex.

Suddenly, I am assaulted by a Missingno.

Image

Wait, that's in the original Red and Blue versions. Never mind. :P

Image

Since we're such an awesome team we're gonna take some photos.

Image

Raichu thinks she looks fat, though. :(

Image

Anyways, onto more serious business. The mysterious leader of Viridian Gym has returned, and we'll have to defeat him as well. Apparently they use Ground Pokémon here.

Image

Should be a piece of cake if you are any indication.

Image

Gasp, I can't believe it's him!

Image

Woohoo, ten Grand! :D

Image

This thingy gives you more Effort Points, but makes your Pokémon slower.

Image

Unbelieveable, ain't it?

Image

Finally, we can go to Indigo Platue. Wait, I'm starting to feel nauseous again. It's that rival of ours again!

Image

This time around, he's very strong, but not as strong as us.

Image

Er, I just owned you.

Image

When the going gets tough, pick some berries.

Image

Hold on, Victory Road is actually cave? It sounds so un-cavish! Fiendish Elite Four, building their tower at the end of of a f*ckin' cave!

Image

To progress in the cave, push the boulders onto these buttons.

Image

You can only take one for now. Choose wisely. I took Dragon Claw myself.

Image

Deep in the cave, I was running low on PP's for my powerful moves. Primeape had fainted! :(

Image

Kinda useless without the Rockhead ability.

Image

Oh noes. I can't get past this maze. I give up.

Image

It's time for a motivational speech.

Welcome to Indigo Platue. You're about to begin the greatest moment of your life. The rival has lost hundreds of Pokémon. Gunnar's brutalized hordes are advanding towards Pokémon League over mountains of their own dead bodies. Our Pokémon Party, our nation, our great country, have task not to let the enemy reach Championship status, and to assault Indigo Platue! Forward against the enemy! Up into the unremitting battle comrades, for Pallet Town, for our great country! Not one step back! Cowards and traitors will be shot! Do not count days, do count miles, count only the number of Pokémon you have killed. Kill the rival - this is your mother's prayer. Kill the rival - this is the cry of your Kanto earth. Do not waver! Do not let up! Kill! Death to the Rival invader!
Primeape: PRIMEAPE!

Wait is it realy 10 grand, I wonder if it is meant to be closer to the Japanese yen, which would place it more around the amount of $100. I dont think a single pokeball would be $500. Hey a little bit of information, did you know according to the manga the character Silver, who is the rival in Gold/Gold/Crystal is the son of Giovani. Missingno was built for the purpose for the developers with if I remember properly part of Articuno's datta, for the purpose so they could mass produce items, and also if you give enough rare candy to certain Missingno it can turn into a Kangeskahn, which can still know Missingno's moves like water gun and Sky Attack.

I dont think missingno is a stand-alone pokemon, it uses familiar pokemon grunts, like i think i heard dragonair one time, or it was someone else.

BTW i didn't find out silver was a boy until a few years ago, how the hell should i? 8O

Ah, the nostalgia. Being able to see every pixel.

I was replaying Silver and I noticed that Johto was absurdly easy. My party overall didn't have to really go past about level 30 to massacre all the gym leaders. After that, there is a lot of tedium in leveling up to have a chance against the Elite Four, so I stopped playing. Red and Blue felt like they had a better progression to me. The gym leaders were tougher, and you were better prepared for the Elite Four by the time you got there.

Orwell, you think silver/ gold is easy? I soloed all the battles with only ONE Pokémon... My Typhlosion, gave him all the power boosters and the best move, she could kill ALL the types <.< I only had the backup Pokémons for the Hms and the eventual revive bot.

I found the gym leaders easier than the elite four

I think it was because i was a clueless 9-year old and nobody of the pupils would give me advice, sadly :(

I was around lv 40-50 with my pokemons when i beat Lance, and i was sad because i thought the adventure was over, but then came a BIG surprise 8)

Image

This feels highly unfair... :x

Image
Image
Image

Well, they ain't gonna play fair, and neither will I.

Image
Image
Image

Let's use PP Ups on some great moves, too...

Image

Earthquake, the most powerful Ground move in the game, goes to our Attack monster of course.

Image

With this move, if Pokémon love you, they will work so hard in battle that they will blindly charge any foe with all it's powers. With this, Raticate shall become a flurry of bites... and they call this a child game?

I also used three Calcium on Blastoise, three Iron on Raticate, three Zinc on Raichu, Raticate and Blastoise, and one HP Up on Primeape.

Image
Image

Take a good look at my berry collection. Jealous, eh? 8)

Image

Grinding is fun, and essential. Here, a wild Geodude used Selfdestruct, and I was left with one HP left. 8O

Image

A very useful move that cuts the opponent's HP in half...

Here goes nothing...

Image

Blastoise, our very first Pokémon. Despite having so relatively low Special Attack, he is dependable and robust. Has Surf and Ice Beam as it's main weapons.

Image

Butterfree has a strong Special Attack, and his Psychic and Silver Wind can make up for his shortcomings.

Image

Raichu is perhaps not the best in my team, but a valuable component nonetheless. Thunderbolt is her only strong move.

Image

A completely berserk Pokémon, he scares the sh*t out of me. Can cause mayhem with Cross Chop, Rock Slide and Earthquake.

Image

Not the Pokémon of choice in any given battle, but can still be potent with her Return, Shadow Ball and Super Fang.

Image

What the Balkans is to Europe, Pidgeotto is to our team. She's in so she can provide moral support.

All right, let's go. 8)

Image

She's not cold, she's just a b***h. :P

Lorelei sounds out Dewgong.
Erik sends out Raichu.
Raichu uses Thunderbolt.
Dewgong uses Safeguard.
Lorelei uses Full Restore on Dewgong.
Raichu uses Thunderbolt.
Raichu uses Thundershock.
Dewgong has fainted.
Lorelei sends out Cloyster.
Cloyster used Protect.
Raichu uses Thunderbolt, but Cloyster evaded the attack.

Lorelei sends out Slowbro.
Raichu uses Thunderbolt (a critical hit! :D)
Slowbro fainted.
Lorelei sends out Lapras.
Raichu uses Thunderbolt.
Lapras uses Ice Beam.
Lapras Sitrus Berry restores health! (30 HP)
Raichu uses Thunderbolt.
Lapras fainted.
Lorelei sends out Jynx.
Erik sends out Primeape.
(Jynx is a dual type Ice/Psychic. Ice Pokémon are weak against Fighting Pokémon, but Psychic is strong, so they cancel each other out)
Primeape uses Rock Slide.
Jynx uses Attract.
Primape falls in love. (This is not the right time, you horny sucker. >_<)
(Full Heal won't have any effect either. So much for 'Full Heal'.)
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Lorelei uses Full Restore on Jynx.
Butterfree uses Silver Wind.
Butterfree's Attack, Defense, Speed, Special Attack and Special Defense rose.
Jynx uses Lovely Kiss, but it missed. (That must look comical.)
Butterfree uses Silver Wind.
Image
Jynx fainted.

At this point Erik defeats Lorelei, but apparently he's ret*d, so he accidently reset button, so he'll have to do it again. :/

After a two worser battles, Erik is finally rolling again.

Image

Not to be confused with the homosexual Austrian.

Bruno sends out Onix.
Erik sends out Blastoise.
Blastoise uses Surf.
Onix fainted.
Bruno sends out Himonchan.
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Butterfree uses Psychic.
Hitmonchan uses Rock Tomb. (Drags me down to 13 HP. :()
Hitmonchan uses Sky Uppercut.
Butterfree fainted. :(
Erik sends out Pidgeotto.
Erik uses Max Revive on Butterfree.
Hitmonchan uses Mach Punch.
Pidgeotto fainted.
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Butterfree uses Psychic.
Hitmonchan fainted.
Bruno sends out Machamp.
Butterfree uses Psychic.
Machamp uses Rock Tomb.
Butterfree fainted.
Erik sends out Blastoise.
Blastoise uses Surf.
Machamp uses Scary Face. (Blastoise's Speed dropped by two points.)
Machamp's Sitrus Berry recovered health.
Machamp uses Cross Chop.
Blastoise uses Surf.
Machamp faints.
Bruno sends out Hitmonlee.
Erik sends out Primeape (since Blastoise's Speed dropped.)
Primeape uses Cross Chop. (A critical hit!)
Image
Hitmonlee fainted.
Erik sends out Blastoise.
Bruno sends out Onix.
Blastoise uses Surf.
Onix fainted.

Image

She has three ghosts, a giant cobra and a giant bat. There something creepy about that sentence, no doubt. She's also had a flirtation with Dr. Oak. Bulbapedia says: "Agatha and Professor Oak were once friendly rivals in their youth, and it appears that Agatha may have once had a crush on Oak. However, their relationship has grown bitter and strained over the years because Agatha believes he was too weak to continue competing. She has a very short temper." Those three sentences are not very reassuring, either.

Image

Agatha sends out Gengar.
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Gengar uses Toxic.
Butterfree uses Psychic.
Erik sends out Blastoise.
Gengar uses Confuse Ray.
Blastoise became confused.
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Gengar uses Double Team.
Gengar uses Double Team.
Butterfree uses Psybeam.
Gengar faints.
Erik sends out Raichu.
Agatha sends out Golbat.
Raichu uses Thunderbolt.
Golbat becomes paralyzed.
Golbat uses Confuse Ray.
Raichu becomes confused.
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Agatha uses Full Restore on Golbat.
Golbat uses Air Cutter on Butterfree.
Butterfree uses Psychic on Raichu.
Erik sends out Raichu.
Golbat uses Air Cutter on Raichu. (Sucker!)
Raichu uses Thundershock.
Golbat faints.
Erik sends out Pidgeotto.
Agatha sends out Arbok.
Erik uses Hyper Portion on Butterfree.
Arbok uses Bite.
Pidgeotto faints.
Erik sends out Butterfree.
Butterfree uses Psychic.
Arbok uses Sludge Bomb.
Butterfree uses Psybeam.
Arbok faints.
Agatha sends out Gengar.
Gengar uses Shadow Ball.
Butterfree faints.
Erik sends out Blastoise.
Gengar uses Hypnosis.
Blastoise fell asleep.
Blastoise is fast asleep.
Erik uses Full Heal on Blastoise.
Gengar uses Sludge Bomb.
Gengar uses Hypnosis. (motherf- >_<)
Blastoise fell asleep.
Blastoise is fast asleep.
Erik uses Full Heal on Blastoise.
Gengar uses Sludge Bomb.
Gengar uses Hypnosis, but it misses. (HAH!)
Blastoise uses Bite. (Good thing he has those Blackglasses... 8))
Gengar uses Hypnosis. (8O)
Blastoise fell asleep.
Blastoise is fast asleep.
Erik uses Full Heal on Blastoise.
Gengar uses Nightmare. But it failed!
Image
Gengar uses Sludge Bomb.
Blastoise uses Bite.
Gengar's Sitrus Berry restores health.
Gengar uses Sludge Bomb.
Blastoise uses Bite.
Gengar fainted. (That iron clad defense of Blastoise sure helped!)
Agatha sends out Haunter.
Blastoise uses Bite.
Haunter uses Curse ()
Haunter faints. (    )

Image

The old duff couldn’t even tell my gender.

All right, I'll take a little break here now. I'll hopefully finish the rest of Pokémon League tonight!

Now i feel i must play pokemon yellow, red, silve, gold, crystal and fire red all over again, it's SO DAMN TEMPTING!! ! The memories FLOW back to me, i remember the wonder that is pokemon, the game i waited to play while i was in school, rushing home and playing crystal on my game boy color in '01 and red in '98<3. The shows, dolls, trading pokemon, playing red on pokemon stadium was so f****** genius, i could play about 5 times faster. I really wish i lived in a pokemon world, this series makes others look like hell, except super mario, zelda.....

I want to travel back, those were the best times of my life, diving inside the gameboy, don't caring about catching all of them but the legendary and special was something i should care about, but i didn't get the point when i was so young. When i was 11-12 when ruby n sapphire came out, i understood the point, too bad i sold them . Now i'm gonna catchem all, get my friends to trade pokemon with me, i will play fire red more than red because red is slow as hell, i wish i could lock myself away from civilisation and play pokemon for all time.

I wish henriksson good luck

Image

It's Oak. I wonder what he wants.

Image

He wants to talk retirement options with me? I admit he must know all about it.

Image

:P

Image

Despite all your love and trust, Oak, you couldn't beat Agatha in a fair fight.

Image

This better be good...

Image

This room is probably the coolest in the game.

8)

Image

This reminds me of Pokémon the Movie for some reason.

Image

Hey, Pidgeotto didn't do sh*t except faint. (Blastoise just ate some ice cream in a clumsy manner)

Awesomeness!

Jesus! And more Braille!

Or is it? ;)

Considering that there are 497 Pokémon, that's less than 10%.
