What class, WoW

You're pretty much correct there, but Marks also focuses heavily on Agi/Crit. And once we get a certain amount of passive Armor Pen on gear, we can drop Arcane Shot from the rotation. Once that happens, it's:
Serpent > Chimera > Aimed > Steady x4-5 > Chimera > Repeat. I have Kill Command macroed into Steady, and Silencing Shot macroed into everything else. Since Silencing Shot isn't on the GCD, it's a nice DPS boost to macro it in to all your other shots.
At very high gear levels with 800+ Armor Penetration on gear alone, many MM Hunters will start gemming for Armor Pen. Some gem for it before that, but it's not recommended since they won't come close enough to the 1400 cap to make it worth losing all that crit and AP. I personally stuck with Agi gemming due to it being better on heavy-movement fights, of which there are quite a few in ICC and the Ruby Sanctum.
Also, 12k DPS isn't an exaggeration.
I'll screenshot my Recount sometime during tonight's raid.

Ah, i keep forgetting the Aimed Shot . . . <sigh> that's what i get for not playing 5 months. The reason I left Crit out of marks is that it seemed kind of redundant given that, when I last used my MM hunter, the Marks spec turned out to have a higher crit than my survival spec (which I found odd given that i used the same gear and every talent within usable range to improve dmg output).
Now I remember that my MM rotation was: Serpent, Chimera, Aimed Shot, Arcane, Steady X3, Chimera, Rinse/Lather/Repeat. I find it interesting you don't use the arcane shot since, depending on talent spec/rune, you can get a free Arcane shot from time to time.
MM Hunters at lower gear levels do still use Arcane Shot (there's no free proc for it though), but once you get 350-400+ Armor Pen on your gear, you drop Improved Arcane Shot and the shot itself, and talent into Imp Steady instead. The reason for this is that, at higher ArP levels, the physical damage from Steady combined with the bleed damage from Piercing Shots actually exceeds the DPS from Arcane Shot.
As for Crit, you can really never have too much as a Hunter. Don't ever gem straight Crit, though. Agi and Agi/Crit gems are best for Marks, and pure Agi does the trick for SV. I have 62.95% crit (unbuffed) in Marks spec, and 64.62% in Survival. The reason you want a lot of crit as Marks is because of Piercing Shots, as your crits cause bleed damage, and the harder the crit, the more bleed damage you do. SV needs Crit for Expose Weakness, which increases your AP by quite a bit.
Marks can also gem for Armor Pen when you get enough of it on your gear by itself. This will lower your crit/AP by quite a bit, but your shots hit so much harder because they ignore more of your target's armor. Generally, you won't want to gem ArP unless you can get as close as possible to the cap of 1400. Never gem for it if you won't be able to reach at least 12-1300.

gemming arp is a waste of time for hunters....
agil always beats it. Plus its fun to be survival in 10m for mana.
I never use arcane shot unlesss im moving...350+ arp passivly remove from rotation waste of time...

Sometimes I do what I want to. The rest of the time I do what I have to.
I have a blood elf, a hunter because I hate teaming. Since I almost never team, stats are what I make of them. And I can't make heads or tails of them usually, but I read carefully and spec what seems most useful. She's been lvl 80 for ages, and I can't think of what to do with her now except pick up cool mounts... I have a few I like, and I'm not buying any with real cash, so that's petered out too. So I joust now and then to get out frustrations and she waits for Cataclysm so as to fly to Auberdine and toast marshmallows over the flaming ruins (unless there aren't any fires).
Meanwhile, I'm tinkering with a couple of other toons when I get the time... A belf death knight, a belf rogue, a belf paladin... yeah, for some reason I love blood elves. I don't like the too-perfect society, mind you. I like a toon I can stand to see from behind when they run. I've tried others. Humans seem to have some kind of breathing problem, they sigh all the time. Dwarves, gnomes, trolls, orcs, taurens, and Draenei are just too hard to look at, especially the Draenei. They tell great jokes, but those whippy lil tails... Night elves are lumpy and have some form of ADD, based upon the bobbing, and I deal with that enough already. And I couldn't get far with an undead because she ATE HER KILLS. And of course, the voice they use when they tell you things is so grisly in an undead. Otherwise they'd be pretty cool, heck, they are anyway... but they turn my stomach.
So yeah, belf hunter, jogging around Dalaran on all the different mounts I was silly enough to buy to get that white dragon, hopping down so that my pet spider will appear, tossing baby spice on a dwarf hunter's epic pet dino... I still can't believe how torqued he got about that. Dude, it's a game! I think he spat on me or something. It's not like I shrank his t-rex permanently. Guess he was compensating for something. ![]()

There's the road, and the road less traveled, and then there's MY road.
Cataclysm is intriguing me, but I just don't think I can handle the WoW commitment anymore. I played it for three and a half years, and it got me through some rough times, but I want to branch out now and I don't want another MMO keeping me hidden away by myself.
I might consider Guild Wars 2, though. It's lack of a monthly payment should mean I won't feel as obligated to play all the time.
