Anarchy Online. It is aged but it is still cool. :)

Uhhh, you guys realize this thread is from 2011, right? =)

I'm trying out MUD2 right now, still attempting to figure it out, really. Out of all of the MMOs I've ever tried, I think I might actually enjoy this one. And unlike other classic MMOs, this one doesn't have terrible controls or ugly graphics =D

Doesn't seem like very many people play it anymore, but it sounds like it isn't too difficult to play it solo...just that you won't have to worry as much about getting murdered =)

Elder Scrolls Online is great. Get it from HumbleBundle or Steam when it's on sale, it's free to play (but you can purchase stuff from the crown store).

....this topic is ANCIENT, everyone. OP first posted 5 years ago.

I seriously doubt he still needs to know of an MMO right now.

OK, but maybe some of us n00bs would like to find out who plays what around here?

I drift in and out of LOTRO, and would love to know if anyone else from WP hangs out in Middle-Earth too.

ETA: I'm happy to start another thread if that would be more appropriate. I just realized that I might sound sarcastic, which is not my intent.

It might be a decent idea to start another thread.

Not so much because of a problem with resurrecting old threads, but instead because MOST of this thread is all sorts of outdated now. The MMO genre changes FAST, it does. It'd be a shame for anyone to read through this and then it turns out such-and-such game they think sounds so good either has become completely different over the years or vanished entirely.

Point. I know that, but tend to forget, as I've only ever played three, and I think they're all still around (although I started playing Everquest in... 1999, or something like that??).

I play alot of mmo's if your looking for free, i might suggest Ragnarok Online II, it is fun and certainly has an interesting storyline. I also Play Tera, Rift, and DC Universe Online though DCUO isn't always the most fun until you can get some of the other powers that require a purchase. Though Tera has a learning curve to play it since attacks have to be manually aimed and positioning plays a huge part in combat even missing your attacks or dodging ones aimed at you.

There's was one mmorpg I remember but can't remember the title. I do remember it was free and I think made in South Korea. But I'm not so sure if it's changed.
