Just wait till Nintendo puts out some of their major 1st-party titles besides the ones shown at E3. I'd find it quite strange if it wasn't more powerful than PS3 since Nintendo made sure the Wii had better specs than Xbox1.

Fact, First party and exlusive titles almost always have better graphics. Case in point: Metal Gear Solid 4, Mass Effect 2 (PS3 release was optimized for PS3), Uncharted Series, etc.

That's certainly true. "Super Mario Galaxy" 1 and 2 showed that Wii could do better graphics than Xbox1.

We'll just have to see how the Wii U turns out. It could be something that's better, or it could be a nearly-useless accessory. I'd like to try playing with one at least once and see for myself how it does before judging it.

That's simply not true. The Radeon cards are the fastest, in low temperatures, as can be seen here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv? ... n_US#gid=0

Since consoles are small in size, they require graphics cards and processors with low uses of power, to prevent over-heating, so in that regard, the Radeon graphics cards certainly allow for being more powerful than nVidia cards.

Otherwise, regarding the graphics card, it looks like the Wii U may end up having a GPGPU. That would change a lot for the ease of cutting down on the graphics of future PS4 and Xbox 720 games, for it, which would mean there would be no barrier against releasing those games for the Wii U, as well.

I'm looking forward to the Wii U, but I won't buy it, when it's new, unless they release it in black, on the date of the release. Design-wise, the black one looks amazing, but the white one just looks okay, in my view. I think many others will wait for the black one, too, so I hope Nintendo will recognize this. Aside from the pure evil of Microsoft, I couldn't be less interested in the Xbox 720, and I'm not interested in the PS4, either, after Sony's removal of features, from people's already bought consoles (Linux, at least), and Sony always treat Europe like crap - the PS3 came without backwards compatibility in Europe and Australia, only. The PS2 had huge black borders, at the top and bottom of the screen - that time, too, in Europe and Australia, only. They always screw Europe and Australia over and I'm certain that they will make sure to do it, this time, too, to earn more money, so I'm definitely NOT interested in giving them any of my money. So the Wii U looks to be the only new stationary console I will get... unless Sega comes out with a Dreamcast 2, finally, maybe... :/ which I'm sure they won't. :(

Nintendo will probably release a game or two for the WiiU in 2013 that demonstrates its graphical superiority over the current consoles. They like to do that.

Which Half-LIfe 2 version looks the best?
Around what year computer would the Wii U be high end for?
What games have a graphics style which ages well (i.e. Wind-Waker, top-of-line 2D graphics, etc.)?

It's still a Wii, hardware is weaker compared to PS3, 360

Nintendo's console was more powerful than Playstation during the PS1 and PS2 era. So it's not at all surprising that WiiU may be more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox360.

It's funny how people pretend like the Playstation has always been more powerful than Nintendo's console just because it is this time around with the Wii.

http://m.kotaku.com/5920931/the-wii-us-power-problem

Nintendo themselves said that the Wii U will be more like an next gen Ipad compared to the current and next gen console. The Wii U will use a AMD Radeon chip, PS3 and 360 had Nvidia, which is more powerful.

First off Nintendo never said that. Second of all you obviously have no idea how graphics chipsets work. The WiiU is without a doubt more powerful than the 360 and PS3 but it won't be as powerful as the 720 and PS4. Stop being a Sony fanboy and embarrassing yourself.

Yeah, That explains why all the games made so far comfirmed for Wii U will be games already released on PS3/360 running at lower resolutions, less pixels per object.

Excuse me? First off not all the games are ports, there are quite few new original games. Second is you are delusional if you believe that they are inferior ports look at this for example http://www.zeldainformer.com/news/comme ... screenshot

Nintendo systems had better graphics than Playstation for over a decade(1996-2006). Sony fanboys pretend like that never happened. lol

The SNES was also more powerful than its competition back in the day.

The tablet controller is not the Wii-U :) there's an actual box that is the console, not much different from how a Wii looks but slightly larger / deeper.

The Nintendo 64 was a more powerful machine but due to other limitations it had (as well as lack of major 3rd party support) that potential was rarely realized. Perfect Dark and Goldeneye put first person outings on the PSx and Saturn to shame but even then did suffer with framerates when their weaker counterparts didn't.

@Hilarityensues Even if the Wii-U is only as powerful as PS3 and X360, it really isn't due to having better / more efficient components that do the same job and then some. Any ports (as already demonstrated with ACIII and Arkham) can be significantly more detailed or tidy than existing releases. It remains to be seen how the Wii-U will fare in comparison to any new MS or Sony machines but they have yet to be announced.
