It was really weird actually, I got my dad to switch our router to WEP somehow but my 4th gen games still wouldn't connect. I think we were automatically switched back to WPA or whatever anyway after my DS was stolen so meh. I don't know, I hate networking stuff so I couldn't offer a good answer.

BW2 looks good, but I'm finding the most exciting things to be the movie theater style mini game, move tutors and the battle frontier thing with all the gym leaders from previous games. I really dislike how the big glaring flaws of BW are not being fixed, yet at the same time I'm very happy about the new move tutors, being able to get roost and bug bite easily makes me quite happy. For me the only flaws of BW were three things, one of which isn't a huge deal, but one is:

1. No VS Seeker for ideal EV training and level grinding. In a way this kind of made sense because I was very over leveled in pearl but even with audino abusing the Elite 4 and last boss were still toe to toe with me in levels. I make my EV training as painless and quick as possibly by infecting myself with pokerus and having power items and BW had some really good spots for training. When you have these advantages EV training is always fast regardless. Defense and sp.defense still kinda sucked to train though.

2. No online scaling for 6v6. I tried 3s and they are just too damn random and you omit a lot of the strategy you would normally have in a 6 on 6. I only "cheat" for pokerus infecting and quick egg hatch but I really disliked having to dupe rare candies just so I could fight people in real battles. It also took a lot of the point out of the end game for me since there were these super powerful trainers who were fun to fight but if you did online for 6s you were level 100 anyway.

One good thing is that I heard audinos give more exp this time around or go higher. I didn't really have trouble getting everyone to the 70s once post game was unlocked. If leveling is made easier then I can contend with the lack of scaling and deal with having to grind out my monsters (which I'll have to do anyway since all my games were stolen).

I still don't understand WHY there was no 6v6 scaling included with 5th gen. Its so arbitrary and really dampens a great generation, 3s are apparently the official standard in Japan so that's why we didn't get 6s? Who knows.

3. Team preview. Not a game killer at all but it really hampers the effectiveness of "surprise" leads and everyone is going to know you're using a Zoarark.

All in all BW is great, I loved the campaign but then again I loved DPP too, 4th gen may be my favorite even, but gen 5 is very good...it just has some weird decision choices that seem like a step back for no reason.

and wowy do I make lots of posts about pokemon for someone who doesn't even have a DS anymore 8)

About the online thing, I was never really able to do anything because my DS would not connect, but I bought myself a 3DS a while back, and I have been able to play online, although it is a bit hard.

And the name of the movie thing in the next games (Pokewood) sounds very suspect, it is a bit odd that they created two games instead of creating a middle game (like grey or checkered).

Yeah I really liked the VS Seeker myself, not so much to level but for money purposes. With a money booster equipped fighting the gentlemen over and over you could get money extremely fast. I wouldn't be surprised if that's why it was taken out.

I personally feel like the purpose of doing things in a 3v3 style is to make it harder and more luck-based. When you have a team of 3, it's much more likely that after a while the AI will find a team of 3 that will counter yours and win. In a 6v6 you can vary your team to make it much harder to counter, and so it's easier to outplay the AI. Additionally, critical hits will hurt more being you only have 3 pokemon instead of 6, so over time you're more likely to lose because of it.

I'm not such a fan of team preview either. I've played some online by using WEP instead of WPA, but currently it's not feasible to switch. I've grinded to level 100 with several of my pokemon so I guess I never really found that to be an issue. Just makes me feel like I've accomplished more with a pokemon by taking the time to level it up the right way. And while I've had the option to use cheats to breed and level or whatever, I guess I've preferred to do everything without so I can say I did everything the legit way.

For the last few days I have been playing Pokemon Conquest quite a lot, mixes samurai turn based strategy with Pokemon, and like usual with Pokemon games, I just throw so many hours at it. It is interesting how it changes up the usual rules of Pokemon effectiveness, all Pokemon only use one type of move, so building a team for any battle requires careful thoughts of battle, like a Carnevine can be very useful as its levitate allows it to move freely, and vinewhip can hit multiple targets

I unfortunately made me the mistake of leaving one base only protected by warriors using a Scyther, Sewadle, and a Ryhorn next to a flying enemy controled castle, normally Ryhorn would be a good choice with it's rock attacks, but Ryhorn only knows bulldoze, so I was practically defenseless.

I am trying to get the Eevee they give you at the beginning to be an Umbreon, I am not sure what the move is, but it would be strange to call myself Dusky, and not go for the dark choice. Although the teammate with a Jigglypuff kine of already ruins the image. :P

Pikachu is probably the best mascot for a company in the world to me.

I am a Pika fan and try to obtain one in each of my games.

I'm kind of interested in it. You can get the pre-evo of one of my favorite Pokemon, Riolu, pretty early in the game I think. I just wish they'd change up the actual formula instead of adding extra features that don't impact the storyline for every new game.

I am so going to get that.

Pokemon + Samurai

The idea is perfect.

The game I really want though is Mystery Dungeon 3. The plot of MD2 actually made me cry near the end, which is rare when it comes to video games. I have no idea if it is in development or not. I also think they should make a 3d Mmorpg based on the success of WoW. Nintendo should expand their horizons into that market.

Yeah, MD2 was amazing. Particularly the special episodes in Sky.

POKEMONPOKEMONPOKEMON

Is this a place to talk about the TCG too? Because I've been playing the TCG lots with my BF lately, as well as replaying Ruby and Heartgold :)

What's your favourite generation? I really love Generation 3, though I also like gen 1 and 2 a lot. I'm starting to like the Black/White pokemon a bit more since playing more TCG.

I've played 173 hours of conquest so far...I'm insane XDXDXD

My favourite generation was probably generation 2. It added a number of new pokemon without feeling like too much had changed and improved on things. I think there are too many now and some of the newer additions just seem uninspired to me. I played some emerald earlier this year for the first time, haven't got through it all yet. Although I don't like it as much as gold and silver, I still enjoyed it. I still have platinum and soul silver sitting here yet to be played, I have quite the backlog!

The new Pokemon suck. They're running out of ideas to make new ones, and the whole series is just dragging on and on.

Just my opinion, though.

I'm not exactly looking forward to the new ones. I got Pokemon White and was very disappointed for reasons unknown to myself. Something about it just made me very angry... But I enjoyed all the cities and some of the new pokemon. I don't know I think I'd like Pokemon more if there were no bad guys, and it just let me train pokemon and get badges.

I really liked Ruby, probably biased because it was my first. Leaf Green is fun too. I think first generation has the most pokemon I like.
