The whole video game community has struck me as nothing but image-driven, basically full of frustrated f**** who can't find their luck in real life so they might show the world how awesome they are in the other spectrum called the virtual world.

Eventually video gaming is still about being the best, there is only one winner and that theme only attracts biased people sadly enough.

That isn't unique to video games. Everyone community on the internet has its share of f****. You give people a place where they can say anything, and do so anonymously, people will say things they wouldn't dare say if you were sitting in the same room and/or you knew who they were. The things people say online, if they tried doing that kind of trash talk in an arcade, its highly likely they would get punched in the face or kicked out, or both

That doesn't stop people from actually talking trash into others faces instead of on the net.

You still get plenty of those types too, in fact a LOT.

There is a vast difference between talking trash in a friendly competitive manner, which is quite common, and the form of trash talk used online which is intended to be insulting and usually full of sexist, racist, or homophobic slurs every other word.

How could I forget about Call of Duty fanboys, or almost any First person shooter games for that matter. We wonder why gamers are seen as immature.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Especially the eight year olds who play them.

COD doesn't stand for "Call of Duty," It stands for "Child Online Daycare" these days. I have nothing against the games, just the fans.

I don't really have any console bias, it's the games that reel me in. But I don't get so into them that I think that's the only quality game out there. That would just be BS.

(There's nothing wrong with being a huge fan of a series, though. :P)

It's weird how the game is rated M for " Mature " meaning it was for for people above the age of seventeen, yet we have what I presumed "eight-ten year olds" playing it. It just seems strange to me. :?

As for console bias, I really don't have one simply because I see video games as a way to pass time with nothing to do. Regardless of what console is playing, and there is nothing wrong with being a fan with something. The problem arises when one places these things in such a high regard is when it becomes a problem. Which is what we have right now in today's society. * almost makes me wish for a time well before video games *

"Fanboys" have basically become the new hooligans.

What? Most games have given that up in favor of a focus on teamwork. Half win, half loose. And that's multi-player games, single player ones have fanbases similar to movies or TV shows, they follow the charicters, etc.

That said, if anyone wants to see a game community implode, check out the forum for the new MechWarrior game-any time a potential new person arrives, they're met with a hilarious amount of hostility for asking basic questions that they are well within rights to ask...

I am starting to see Call of Duty as a blight on the gaming industry. Even some reviewers have answered the Call of Stupidity. This is taken from the Electronic Gaming Monthly review of Halo 4.

Quote:
These low points are openly exacerbated by the series’ staunch refusal to get with the times when it comes to game mechanics and level design, ignoring obvious enhancements like big-ticket sequences and proper iron-sights mechanics in favor of their age-old addiction to slow, methodical combat in unnecessarily large environments. And while I get that 343i was deathly afraid to come in and mess with the elements most consider Halo canon, it’s a lot to ask of us who play other games in the genre to continue to stomach a core most left behind half a decade ago. Mind you, some folks might find the videogame equivalent of being forced to eat your vegetables a comforting alternative to Microsoft putting a dash of modern in their combat, but when stacked up to Dishonored, Far Cry 3, and Black Ops II, Halo 4’s campaign feels as empty and uninspired as its strong, silent protagonist.

Seriously? I have never seen someone complain about the Halo series having unnecessarily large environments until now. I thought most people actually liked the large open maps with vehicles. How is strictly linear corridor based level design an 'obvious enhancement'? Also a shooter being 'slow and methodical' is a bad thing? I am just dumbfounded at this kind of crap being spewed by a professional reviewer. Gamesradar also complained about the lack of iron sights in Halo 4. Really? Not every shooter needs iron sights. Its just such a stupid complaint and the lack of iron sights should have never even come up because its not necessary and the constant comparisons to other games in reviews needs to stop. Games should be judged on their own merits, with the primary consideration being, Is it fun. The EGM reviewer goes on to complain and complain about how Halo 4 is the same as previous games, and yet clearly is a Call of Duty fan and would probably give Black Ops 2 a 10 despite doing nothing new. And say 343 Industries had made Halo 4 basically Call of Duty with a Master Chief skin slapped on, I have a feeling this reviewer would have insulted it anyways for being a rip off.

:lmao: Yeah but as soon as someone disses Ratchet and Clank, you'll be giving them a good telling off.

Ya think? ;)

I don't think, I know. :P

I guess people have their own opinions, I have no problem with that.

Fanboys who think that getting a million kills in their favorite game over the course of a month is a sign of their masculinity, who talk like they are king of the world because they can murder random pixels better than people who have a life, but they can't bench-press 50 lbs at the gym and their eyes would probably burn out and become blind if exposed to sunlight because they never go outside their basement dwellings. You know the type.

Any fan base that has a bias to the point were they don't even see the blatantly obvious flaws of the game. Call of Duty, which has become one of the most horribly bad FPS series I've played is still gobbled up in the sales by the drones that would become startled if even considering playing another game. Its a shame, as it was a series I genuinely used to like, now it has become a mess that has seemed to cater more and more to bad players. Then there is sports games like Fifa that go almost unchanged every year that also gets bought up by the drones. Have a look at how hard they worked on the Wii version, quite funny really: Lazy
