The new Doom has a release date now: May 13th. Just in time for my birthday! Here's hoping it doesn't slip.

Love the Borderlands series. Particularly 2. Pre-Sequel just felt like a big DLC and I didn't like the character classes.

I don't like FPS's where there isn't some degree of character building. Which is why Borderlands is perfect. It plays like a fast-paced FPS, but has a very wide variety of character builds. I really can't think of another game that better blends the best of RPG and FPS. I also love the aesthetic and dark humor of the game.

I have limited experience with older FPS games.

I did also like Bioshock 1 a lot. One of my all time favorites. 2 was pretty good. Bioshock Infinite was very disappointing.

I know opinions are divided but I am enjoying Fallout 4. I don't care that it's not much different than 3. I liked 3 too.

Can't remember if Mass Effect 2/3 was third or first person. Same goes with The Last of Us. But excellent games as well.

I like sniping and stealth. I want things to be hard and make me want to smash my controller so I can feel victorious when I finally win.

About bloody time.

Though, I'll be honest: I'm outright expecting them to screw this up. No way in hell I'm pre-ordering it. Devs these days get too obsessed with graphics, cutscenes, and set-piece moments and tend to ignore the things that made these games good in the first place (hint: none of those three things). From what I"ve seen of the game, it already looks like it's headed in this direction in alot of ways (I can say one thing, if I do buy the game, I sure as hell will never use the chainsaw; boy did they already screw THAT up. Goody, an uncontrollable little canned showy animation every time you hit something with it! Just what I always wanted! That totally doesnt flare up my impatience at all!).

I'll be waiting on buying that until enough videos of full gameplay have been produced after release by people completely unconnected to the developers. Tired of buying "major" games only to inevitably be disappointed by them. Frankly, I cant remember the last time I WASNT disappointed by one. Mighta been years ago. That fact is sad.

I don't think I ever preordered a game before. Considering that I just played through Aliens: Colonial Marines and I know the know the story of it's release I think I made the right decision.

Although, I can have a lot of fun playing bad games. It's the whole "it's so bad it's good" thing. Rogue Warrior, Ubersoldier I & II and Ride to Hell: Retribution (third person) are some of my favorites in that category.

Yeah, that's true, some of them end up being hilarious fun when they're bad.

Makes me think of the old Back to the Future 2&3 game by LJN on the NES. Anyone that's played that one knows all that's wrong with it... but for whatever reason I liked it anyway. And it was hilarious. Ended up being pretty fun as a result.

Yeah Ride to Hell was so bad that it got pulled from sale. The only way I could get it was to have my friend download a torrent for it.

Clearly the new Doom game is going to be amazing. It's so good that it doesn't even need a number. It IS Doom. Not that crummy old 90's game. Silly pretender.

Seriously though, the new Doom so far hasn't impressed me. It's interesting, but not $79.95 USD interesting.

Same here. I know where all the enemies are and all the surprises. I've probably played through that game more than any other game. I've also completed Blue Shift and Opposing Force several times.

I haven't actually played Blue Shift or Opposing Force all the way through yet. I'm hoping that the developers of BM;S will release Insecurity and hopefully an Opposing Force remake soon.

I doubt it will come out soon. I am still waiting for the Xen levels.

It doesn't take very long at all. I think I beat Blue Shift in less than an hour (but I might be wrong, it's been a while).

I love me some co-op shooters. Left 4 Dead and its sequel are my favourites.

I don't like the new trend where co-op shooters need to include RPG mechanics such as stat builds and item collecting. I just wanna be able to jump in and start playing and not have to worry about having the right stats and gear. I guess it's good for replay value, being able to use different builds and unlocking new weapons to use keeps things varied.

But figuring out a good build isn't very exciting to me. There's no action to be found in optimizing some numbers.

You see, I feel the opposite. I don't find a game where just beating the boards is all there is very fun. I guess to each their own. But I also tend to dislike games I can finish in 3 or 4 sittings or fewer. I don't play games every day, but when I do it's a 3-6 hour block usually.

To me it's boring to have a co-op where the two players are using essentially the same character with the same abilities.

I mean, to use Borderlands as an example, the character building is fun, but having multiple different characters that focus on more specific playing styles makes the game more appealing to a wider audience. For example, I prefer sniping and stealth in shooters. So I usually choose a character who's traits cater to that. Some people like melee. Some like cover and shoot. Others like going balls out. BL, 2 in particular, gives something for everyone.

Except you can do all of those things in L4D without having to be a specific class or have the right stats.

Unless you're playing VS. mode. When you're playing as an Infected, you respawn as a random type and have to do your best, even if you think Hunters are the absolute worst =)

Fair enough. A game is still just boring for me unless there's more to it than simply going around killing stuff. I like that part, of course, but there has to be more. I think it's fun to work toward that next skill point or ability. But, there's a reason both styles of game exists. People like different stuff.

That and I think zombies are boring and I'm so sick of things with zombies. I was over it with Day of the Dead. The whole thing should have stopped there...

28 Days later brought it back. That Dawn of the Dead remake was okay too.

You know I did like 28 Days Later (didnt see the sequel) quite a bit, but there was more going on there than your typical zombie fare. I do typically love post-apocalyptic so maybe that's why.

The remake of Dawn of the Dead was sort of lame to me. But I hate 95% of remakes. Just make a new damn movie.
