I'm pretty sure Universal Serial Buses do exist. I use them every day.

If by universal serial bus memory sticks you mean flash drives or thumb drives?

You can't get RAM on the USB. RAM operates much quicker than the PCI bus on the computer anyway. Therefore USB memory sticks can not exist. USB pen drive, flash drives do

This is a USB memory stick. I store stuff on them through one computer, and then take them to another computer...

Seems everyone in this thread is getting "memory" and "storage" mixed up @_@

memory = RAM (which can also act as storage in some cases, but it's volatile, so it would only be a temporary storage)
storage = flash drives or hard disks or CD-ROM discs or floppy disks or what have you (which can also act as virtual memory, but isn't as fast as the real thing)

Henriksson isn't confusing anything. USB storage is commonly referred to as USB memory by both manufacturers and consumers and it has been that way for some time.

USB RAM would be quite funny, if slow if it were to exist. I am not getting confused. I know the difference. It's like calling the computer a hard drive or the CPU. If you did use USB as a RAM disk, it would be funny as you "save" files to it, it disappears forever :D. But using it as a flash drive would be more successful as it contains less moving parts.

Virtual memory is just a designated file where programs in memory get transferred to when something is unable to fit in memory without causing slowdowns and errors. I think the file is optimised to make as much memory available to the user.

I laugh at this from an advert on TV: 2GB RAM memory
Devices having 8GB memory. Wow, I have only 6GB. Surely 128MB-512MB would be enough?

Well, seeing as they seem to pop new consoles rending the previous generation completly obsolete because no new games are made for it, i'd rather use a comp, kthx =.=

Please tell that to the companies, and see what their reaction is. Because as of now, both seller and buyers call it memory sticks.

Memory Stick is the name Sony use for their storage media. I have a CompTIA book where the RAM is called "Memory Stick"
What would you do if your camera had memory on it? I wouldn't like that at all. I'd never want to switch it off, risk draining the battery and have to download from the camera.
Let's treat your RAM like this "memory" you create a RAM disk and store your work on it. Only to restart your computer and it's all gone. All files have to be stored, not memorised.

You don't think a word can mean two things? A box full of junk is not the same 'box' as in the sport.

EDIT: Also, you apparently wouldn't mind if you referred to something as a theory in every day speech, and I countered with "no, you fool, that's an hypothesis!"?

I have 19 Xbox 360 games (not including XBLA games) and all of them work on my Xbox.

I have one PC game, and it doesn't.

This is the main reason I don't play Computer games.

Well, don't be surprised if computer games don't work on your Xbox.

(Or did you mean doesn't work on your computer? )

Oh lord... that means that Blizzard is the only pureblood left among the major studios (unless Stardock makes a breakout into the primary market)...

Anyone with half of a CS or IT degree (or has taken at least one course in computer hardware) should know the difference between storage and memory... storage is non-volatile (meaning you don't lose what's on it when power is cut), and memory is volatile... Just because Sony likes to name their products with the wrong name doesn't mean they are the be-all end-all authority on what is "memory" and what isn't...

Yeah, I meant on my PC... :|
Although it has about as much chance of working on my 360 as it does my PC.
