Probably one of my fave Pokémon games of the ones I've played (haven't played ORAS, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon [I don't think, maybe I do own one of them but I don't 100% remember], or any of the Nintendo Switch ones because I don't own a Switch).

Didn't get too far into it because I started playing it at like 2am last night though, haven't even beaten the first gym.

Good luck trying to beat Faulkner.

And good luck trying to beat Whitney on the way, too.

Who's your starter Mon, anyway?

I never had trouble with them. I used Totodile and Rage dispatched Whitney very quickly. same with Faulkner, so I never realized what the big deal was.

Well, Whitney was pretty hard.

OTOH, I used to beat her a couple of times (long story) using only a Quilava in Crystal. (No, not in Heartgold/Soulsilver, otherwise she'd be REALLY difficult because of her Miltank's Thick Fat).

I'm going to try to do my Daytona Jacksonville 500k race tonight.

I have a really fast car but I'm not very good at drafting so I worry that even if I qualify well I won't be able to stay up front.

The first stint before any pit stops is incredibly stressful because of how close everyone is running and how the air shoves everyone around. If a car is on your bumper, your car gets loose. If you're close to another car's bumper your car starts to not turn so well.

Between the car's innate tendency to porpoise at high speeds and all the turbulence it's quite hard even though it's just a big oval; the track isn't the challenge, the race is. At >320 km/h it doesn't take much for things to go bad and they go real bad real fast. 500 km should take roughly 100 minutes.

I finished 2nd place last year; I lost by 4.524 seconds. I don't want to take 20 attempts in order to win.

I played the demo for Grim Guardians: Demon Purge. Seems pretty mid tbh. It's kind of... semi Metroidvania in that you unlock abilities to open paths, but the levels are seemingly more linear like a classic Castlevania game. But the actual level design seems more like a Metroidvania ie. it's kind of simple and downplays platforming. Idk. Maybe the level design gets more interesting later on.

It's also a two-character game but the characters don't feel fleshed out enough to justify it. They both have essentially the same traversal ability, they just differ in primary and subweapons... specifically I think Shinobu, the character using a machinegun, would have better synergy as a subweapon you summon to fire a burst then as a whole other character. When you fire as her you're rooted to the spot and have no options, which is boring. There's also a long recovery. Realistically you'll only use her for short moments when you need to attack something at range. Imagine if Megaman Zero didn't have synergy with the blaster & saber because he was two characters with a 1 second switching animation and it would be almost as bad as this.

It hurts because Curse of the Moon did it much better so you'd think they'd know – hell this feels like a spiritual sequel to those games as much as anything.

I got 14th out of 40.

Oh well, there's the 400 later on, but for now it's time to prepare for Fontana.

Splatoon 3 with my online friend. I'm really bad at it and it's hard to pay attention to it for long.

I am all about Elden Ring at the moment. Late to the party I know. I've cancelled my gamepass because I know now I'm not going to be playing anything else for months. I've pretty much exhausted Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula, Siofra River and Stormveil castle. Now mucking about in Liurnia of the Lakes.

I’ve been replaying Pokémon Legends Arceus, which, despite the mediocre visuals, is still surprisingly good. Plus I love Pokémon so I’m very bias. Actually the Pokémon games recently have been really good. Pokémon Scarlet was just a fun game all around.

I was also replaying Mother 3 (with a gameboy!!), one of my absolute favorites.

I’m starting new Hollow Knight and it’s pretty hard and there’s not a lot to work with in the beginning but it’s very pretty and I’m pushing through cause I think it’ll get good.

I really like Scarlet even if it is a powerpoint presentation sometimes. Rika is...very pretty... And i freaking love Nemona because she's so ND it has to be on purpose! lack of fear, check. 1000% unaware of social cues, check. restricted interest, check. et cetera. I get upset when people call her a yandere because she's not! she is just super excited to share her special interest with someone! Anyways many people agree that the story is the best in the series since B&W, though I've never played. Also, the music is even (slightly) better than SW&SH somehow (my personal hot take hierarchy of pokemon music is S&V>SW&SH>US&UM>B&W[includes sequels]>everything else in the series)

for Hollow Knight, it doesn't get good. It gets AMAZING. I come to replay it as a fun little speedrun every now and then and pretty much know the early and middle game by heart. There's just so much to do and so much to explore and the lore is really cool (do NOT watch Game Theory's lore video on it though, it's laughably wrong) Team Cherry selling it for 15$ makes you essentially a thief because of how good the game is. I have 180 hours on it

You’re so right about Nemona lol. I like how she’s leagues (pun intended) ahead of you right from the start, since usually in Pokemon games you’re the star child. Arven’s story I just couldn’t help but love and he definitely carried the game for me. Plus, this is probably super unpopular, but I love the new mons…even the furry-looking ones (I’m bias). They’re just so weird and original. And I really love how the legendaries are characters with personalities. And I think we got some of the best character designs in the game too. And area zero? SO GOOD. (Not saying anything just in case…) The music is also good but that goes without saying. My favorite game in the series is probably S&U but that was my first Pokemon game so…Popplio for the win.

Oh and for Hollow Knight I’ve only heard good things so I’ll keep on playing. I’m currently in the second world (Greenpath? I think it’s Greenpath). I really love the 2D animated graphics since you don’t see that a lot now.

This, maybe. We'll see if I can focus.

I've also been thinking of getting back into Neverwinter Nights.

agree with everything you said: at least new mons aren't Dewgong the dugong and stuff like that, the designs are amazing, and Toby Fox is second only to ZUN in terms of composing music. for favorite, my first was Alpha Sapphire and I had like 330 hours on it. I replayed it over and over and over.

yes it is Greenpath and yes the art is very nice
