I've heard the GC port of the first SA runs at 60 FPS, like the DC version was supposed to. I don't know if this is true or not, I'm fine with 30 FPS...I'm kind of thinking that might be the cause of my motion sickness.

That's correct. It's 30 on Dreamcast, 60 on GameCube.
Unfortunately, neither version was well-optimized. The Dreamcast version because it was a launch title, and the GameCube version because it was a lazy port. (Let's make the characters look better but not use an appropriate lighting effect! Let's not overhaul the control scheme despite the existence of a 2nd analog stick!)
Due to optimization issues, both versions have slowdown issues. (Well, I don't know, maybe the GameCube version doesn't slow down on Wii.) The GameCube version's slowdown is more noticeable than the Dreamcast one's.

As far as I know, the Wii doesn't add more processing power to GameCube games.

As if that wasn't enough, SU360 (which I have) is at a steady 30. On PlayStation 3, it's a rather messed-up 60.

I know double-posting may be risky, but...big news.

Project Needlemouse happened.

First of all, this came some time before I registered. Second of all, it's a new 2D Sonic.

Why does the game limit your number of tries? I don't get it! In an arcade, another quarter gets you another try. Theoretically, you could have endless tries. But not on the console, despite the fact that you BOUGHT THE GAME AND TOOK IT HOME!! !!

Yeah... The first 2 games were really good, Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) let you SAVE, which was important, !"

You kids don't know you're born! I've been playing Sonic 1 on the Mega Drive since I was ten and, as MD games go, it's really very easy.

Platform games in this era didn't usually have infinite lives because gamers would have found them too easy to complete (on average you got three lives plus any extra lives/continues you might have acquired during the game). Nevertheless, there were a couple of cheats.

The level select is probably the famous cheat ever (when Sonic wags his finger on the title screen -- Up, Down, Left, Right, A and Start together). In addition to this, you can build up a ton of lives for yourself on Green Hill Zone Act 2/3 by repeatedly collecting all the lives/rings on the level and then deliberately losing a life so you can go through the level all over again.

If you think Sonic 1 needs a save facility, you should give Kid Chameleon a try (103 levels and no save facility -- I could only complete this game by using the cheat to get to the last boss).

Um... What does that mean?

Wait... Sonic 1 is easy? Then why haven't I beaten it? I've had the game for 14 years, and I still haven't beaten it.
Oh, wait... Were you playing the PAL version? That version runs about 17.5% slower.

They didn't need them, but come on, I don't want to be sent back to the start of the game like that. Oh, and Super Mario World had a save feature 7 months before Sonic came out.
Basically, a game ought to have saves, passwords, or at least infinite continues. (The continues also shouldn't be a hidden feature. Super Mario Bros. commits a violation there.)

Oh, and concerning that new 2D game... It would appear that they forgot to mention an important detail: the platform! Seriously, hello? Which system is your new game for?
And they speak as if there haven't been any 2D Sonic games since the Genesis days. What about the 3 Sonic Advance games? Or Sonic Rush? Why are those games never brought up?

I loved Sonic Adventures to Dream Cast, there was a track for the Red Mountain stage I held the game on for more then 5 hours just to listen to it on repeat while I was doing other things at the comp.

You have a Sonic that is 17.5% faster, he's the world fastest hedgehog and you posses him in even greater speed.
Is that complaining I hear?

Genesis games are compatible with the MD. The ones I have; Kid Chameleon, Splatterhouse 2 and Lemmings; are pretty much identical to the European versions. I checked out the NTSC version of Sonic on YouTube and it looks a lot like the Sonic you play on an emulator. For them as wants, I include a link to the video:

Super Mario World is a much bigger game than Sonic 1 -- it would be impossible to complete in one sitting. Kid Chameleon is a lot like Mario in many ways:

I'm a big fan of the Sonic Advance games. At the time, it felt great to relive the traditional 2D style.

Hm? When did they state that the graphics were 2D?

Well, first, mine is in the original speed. Second, the US version is 20% faster than the Euro one. (That's division, folks.)
Third, I wasn't complaining. Perhaps your remark was unrelated, but I'm assuming that it wasn't. My point was that of course the Euro version is going to be easy! It's in slow motion!

It's common knowledge that the career of Sonic the Hedgehog went to the pits after making the jump to 3-D. I would'nt be suprised if SEGA was going to end the franchise by now.
