Yeah!! Because gremlins like to play around with the wires in machines, yeah? Pretty clever innit! ^_^

Milotic is loosely based on the sculpture The Venus De Milo

Weeeell, that it is! I never thought of it that way, merely thinking of MILOTIC as a simple sea serpent, or maybe a leviathan to a lesser extent.

Geeeez, I've learned about so many Pokemon in one day! I don't think I can take anymore information! ^^;
All the same, thanks to everyone for feeding my curious mind! :D

I thought it was based on sirens (the mythology kind), since it learns Hypnosis and you have to get it very beautiful before it will evolve.

Edit: Wow, just realized: Venus de MILO, MILOtic. Cool!

You've made some very interesting points in your post, and here are some of my favourites that I quoted above. ^_^
Did you already know about these from past sleuthing or did you look 'em up?

Mostly from memory, but I double-checked some stuff on Wikipedia, like the myth of Leviathan, Behemoth and Ziz. I couldn't even remember Ziz's name, actually.

Yep.

And Milotic is indeed very pretty.

I'm way too analytical when it comes to mythical creatures lol.

Spoink and Grumpig are based on the Bible verse "Do not cast your pearls before pigs for they will trample them under their hooves" pearls meaning wisdom, at least thats what I think.

Sounds plausible.

Funny you should mention that! This very phrase got a knowing wink from Gonzap in Pokemon Colloseum, when you fail to snag his SKARMORY when battling him in the Snaggem Hideout in Eclo Canyon. He would say something about "casting your pearls before SWINUB".

Yes I do indeed enjoy finding myths and other such things in games.

I've assumed that Voltorb is simply meant to be a classic rpg "chest mimic", but Electrode seems to be an adaption of an enemy from Earthbound.

Edit: Some, like Claydol and Shuppet are modelled after lucky charms. Claydol after a clay figure that is supposed to cure disease. It's fitting that both of its types are supereffective against Poison.
Shuppet looks a lot like a good weather charm. But I don't remember it learning any weather controlling moves on its own. :?

Just out of interest, what enemy is that?

I always picture Eevee, Jolteon, Umbreon, and Leafeon as male and picture Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, and Glaceon as female.
